over the years, many members have asked me if i could make it possible for them to donate something to help with the upkeep of the site. i've always thanked them for their generosity and thoughtfulness and said i'd think about it, i just never got around to actually doing anything about it.
but the site has continued to grow (and use more resources), so i've finally made it possible for members to make donations to help with the upkeep of the site. if you'd like to donate, you can get started by clicking the “Donate” link above.
just to clarify: the site is still free to join, open to everyone, and ad-free for the foreseeable future. donations are voluntary: nobody will be penalized in any way for not donating, and donors won't get preferential treatment or access to private forums or anything like that.
if you click the "Donate" link up there, you'll be taken to a page where you can enter the amount you'd like to donate, how you'd like to fund that donation (please see “donations now being accepted” in the “news” forum for a discussion of the options), and whether or not you'd like your user name to appear on the donors list.
(note to members outside the united states: i can only accept donations funded in u.s. dollars right now, so if you can't fund your donation in u.s. dollars, i can't accept it, but i thank you for your generous intentions.)
