Laughing Demon

When I went to straighten up my garden today for the 3rd time there was dog poop so it must have been a dog the whole time messing up my garden. I paid my neighbor $10 to plant my flowers and gave him the left over flowers and potting soil. I took him to Big Lots to help me get a fence for my garden and asked him if the one he picked out was sturdy enough to stand up and he said yes but it wasn't. I've got to have a stress test done and Patient First wants me to go to my regular doctor to schedule it. That means another co-pay so I'm going to call them and tell them to schedule it themselves. I got heart burn so bad at Patient First I was doubled over. I got hit in the head by the trunk lid of my car putting the flowers in the trunk at Home Depot. I took the same neighbor who I paid to plant my flowers to the grocery store and he asked me to go in and help him find something. I'm not really feeling good through all of this as I have a bad sinus infection which was the main reason why I went to Patient First. I wanted to wait in the car when my neighbor went in the store to get his girl some beer. He tells me in the car that his girl was in one of those moods where she didn't want anyone over but yet I saw 2 of the other neighbors going in their house to party. I don't party and I suppose I'm only good when people are broke and don't have money. I feel taken advantage of by my neighbor who I paid $10 to plant my garden and he did a lousy job and I took him to the store for beer and went in the store with him to help him find something when I didn't feel like and I gave him my left over flowers and soil! Sorry for the run on the sentence but I'm not that coherent at the moment. I drank one beer alone as that is how I spend my time when the neighbors have money at the beginning of the month. I'm fed up as all get out.

I'M TOO DARN NICE TO PEOPLE!

Oh, did I forget to say that I had planned on eating in McDonalds for breakfast on the way to Patient First and there were no empty seats and long lines so I left hungry? I know I'll laugh at this another day but at the moment I'm in hell. The 1st 2 times my garden was messed up there was no poop so when I went in the dirt with my bare hands to fix my garden I wasn't expecting to sink them in the poop. Sorry I know that's gross and I must have washed my hands 50 times at least before I felt decent. The top of my head hurts from the lid of the trunk of my car and the front of my head hurts from my sinus infection. I messed up on my diet big time; while in the grocery store I bought a bunch of comfort food and came home and comforted myself.

Oh Barbara. I am so sorry that you had such an awful day. I guess the good part is that you're sure not to have another day like this one. Sounds like you were letting yourself be taken advantage of...I think you're probably able to make better decisions than your neighbor anyway!

Very Happy Thank you Rusty and Kevin. Yes Rusty, I did let myself be taken advantage of. I do have a good plan for that though. The next time that guy offers me $5 to take him to the store for beer, I'm going to say I won't do it for less than $15. If he says that's too much I'll say, well I'm only charging you $10 for my time like you charged me and $5 for gas. That will cure him from asking me for rides.

I do feel better today.

Hi Barbara, I don't know if you read Miss Manners column in the newspaper, but she says, when someone asks you to do something that you don't want to do, just say "I'm sorry, I can't" or "I'm sorry, that would be impossible right now." And leave it at that. You don't have to provide a reason or a justification. But I think you are right to begin setting boundaries.

Very Happy Hi Rusty,

That is a better way to handle it, thanks. I don't know why I have to explain things to people. I need to get out of that. Well, I kind of do know why I'm like that, it's from years of being around the wrong people. That's a goal of mine to find more of the right people though. I walked around my complex 3 times before noon today and watched what I had for breakfast so I'm back on track with dieting. Thank you so much for being so supportive.
