|

Hello everyone. I've just recently registered, but have been lurking on this site for about 6 months. This site has been helpful, especially Kevin's Tales. Just wanted to say thanks to all those who've paved the path and helped out the rest of us newbies.
I have a question that may seem silly, but I'm really unsure as to how long I've "officially" quitted smoking. I've stopped smoking since 10/06/08, but used the patch until 12/01/08. The reason why I'ld like to know is how far I've gone down the quitting path.
I've had some rough moments, but the worst ones have been in between Dec. and mid Jan. It's been a little better the last few weeks, but I'm really curious as to how much longer these bad moments will pass? |

Hi Mike...Congratulations! In my opinion, you count from the moment you quit smoking but in others it's when you are rid of the nicotine. I think you should say what you want to say....but no matter what you have done an excellent job!!
We're glad you are here! _________________

Mike
From a person who supports the cold turkey method of quitting, I will say that your quit started the moment you took your last puff on a cigarette, not the day you peeled the patch off or the last nibble on a piece of nico gum. I support CT cuz I had tried NRTs in the past and I always went back to smoking, but the key here is (I or me) did not succeed with the NRT. I too say 6 October. Just hang tuff and all will get better. We addicts did not develop our addiction in a couple of months, so ride with the discomforts knowing that one day you will not feel uncomfortable and later down the road you won't remember that day as all your days will be good ones without the cigarette.

Thanks for the responses and encouraging words everyone. It's good to know I've made it pass the 3-month mark then, as I think around that time was probably the worst I've experienced so far in terms of moodiness.
The past two weeks or save have been better. Knowing what to expect ahead from the many helpful posts here has allow me to make it this far. I hope to stay free the rest of my journey. |

Thanks Essie. The fact that it was a Friday makes it all the better . It's been a good week as I haven't had any cravings or mood swings at all. |
