Hey - I'll be off line for a few days....headed to Las Vegas - will be walking the Las Vegas Rock 'n Roll Marathon on Sunday - December 6th! Intend to try to finish the full marathon - but I've been having some foot issues - we'll see how it goes.... I may opt to only do the half - we'll see what my body has to say about it come Sunday - 13.1 Question or 26.2 Question Question
Take care and I will too!

Thanks Kevin -

Moose - my primary reason is to walk the marathon - but I'll probably do a little of everything...some drinking (mostly non-alcoholic) - some penny slots - and I've planned a couple of spa treatments instead of shows - facial on Friday and massage on Monday after the race.

I mostly plan on having some fun! Sort of my christmas present to myself.

I'm back - finished 26.2 miles in just under 7 hours (which was the course time limit) - it was cold for Vegas (upper 30's / low 40's) - I was really running out of energy at mile 20 and really thinking about stopping at mile 24 - and then I realized how stupid that would be - I was moving pretty slow - but I finished. Bruised another toe nail - so it looks like I have three that will eventually fall off. Had a late flight home on Monday that was delayed by rain (so glad it didn't rain during the race) - and I have my medal. I think I'll stick with the half-marathon distance for a while - the full is just exhausting...I was not well prepared - but I was determined. And I was NOT the last person across the finish line....
Had fun - enjoyed the trip - really a great sense of accomplishment when you step across the finish line....this one brought tears to my eyes...I was plum tuckered out....but I've bounced back like a champ! Feel pretty good today! But need some extra sleep.....

Thanks for the encouragement...I couldn't let myself quit...next race will be in March at Disney World....the Princess Half-Marathon....

thanks Jim & Essie - it's a very long walk....and I maintained a 16 minute mile pace for the 26 miles.... I wish I'd done a bit more training to be better prepared for it - those last two miles were pure determination and stubornness - I refused to quit even though my body was wondering why I was abusing it so... next one will definitely be just a half-marathon.

That's funny Kay - my usual night's sleep is between 5 & 6 hours...I never thought of it from that perspective! Maybe I need to sleep more and walk less??

Very Happy Mary,

That feeling of finishing in Vegas must have felt great like you said. You are truly an inspiration to me. How'd you do on the penny slots?

Barbara - I got about an hour of play for my $5 on the penny slots - was up to nearly $10 one time - should have cashed out - but kept playing.

Thanks Pink...the sense of accomplishment is great - marathons are not for everyone - but once you've done one you want to do another!!
