i've never seen a squirrel with white ears before, but this guy's been helping himself to the fallen seeds from our bird feeder.
i looked around the internet a bit and can't find pictures of any squirrels that look quite like him, although i did find a discussion on sciencebuzz.com where people are talking about seeing white-eared squirrels for the first time this year.
interesting... _________________

Maybe they are just living longer and the white hair goes with "old age"?? He looks quite "plump" - and maybe with the reduced natural predators in suburban neighborhoods they more able to survive??? Cool picture! Or maybe something in the environment is resulting in this "new" characteristic that is being noticed...hmmmm...makes you think! _________________
