Hey Everyone, I don't know but some of you might remember me. I posted long ago and since then I've quit over 100 times. I can quit but I can'ts stay quit. Today once again, I'm giving it another try and I need to have the strength to really quit. It seems fine I quit for 2 months, then say oh what the hell, I'll just have one, then I quit for 3 weeks and back and forth. The longest I made it was three months. I just got some zyban from my doc but I need all the help on can get.

I have been looking into this site but havn't posted because I'm embarassed of how many times. I do see alot of familair names, you guys should be proud. Hopefully, one day I can become a veteran and help as much as you folks do.

To Kevin: Please let me have another shot at this and thank you for maintaining this site!

Deb

Hiya Deb,

First thing is - don't be embarrassed. Everyone here without exception has many failed attempts under their belt.

Just have faith in yourself and resolve to quit. You CAN do it. Just keep coming back here and letting us know how you're doing.

Good luck to you Smile

Gary.

3 Weeks, 1 Day, 11 hours, 43 minutes and 33 seconds (but who's counting?)

Thank you! Only day 2 and I was contemplating going out to get some already. I'm not going too, not today. The problem I have when I get back on the wagon is - when something bad happens or stress etc. I go buy cigs and when something good happens - I go buy cigs. It's crazy and my body at this point does not physically want them it's a mental thing.

Thanks for helping get back to be on non smoker!

that's what makes quitting so tough for so many of us: you want them when you're happy, and you want them when you're sad, and you want them when you're angry, and you want them you're in love...

just remember; wanting is not the same as needing. and it's a lot easier to choose not to have something you only want.

keep it going! Smile

Thank's Kevin! I never thought about it that way. Your correct I don't need the cigs I just want them, this way of thinking will probably make me stronger. It's true in many situations, I would love to win the lottery but, I don't need to. Winning the lottery would be ok but, smoking another cig is harmful.

I'm going to look at this differently now, like the Rolling Stones song, "You can't always get what you want, You get what you need" This is so true!

Thanks Laughing

Deb

Well, we're in the same boat. No shame in repeated attempts...so shake that off. Will say this...because this is how I'm approaching the whole back and forth requitting issue. Yes, have gone back and forth, and no I will not beat myself over the head with guilt and shame overload. I do, however, have faced the fact that it's a matter of taking this so very seriously and not letting the thought of "whatever" creep in. It's taken years for me to "get this" part of quitting. (Talk about a huge cloud that could drown me with embarrassment and guilt Shocked Shocked )

Fact is this....you and I have to just face that fact that quit is quit. There is no lee-way in quitting. It's not a here or there proposition....it's an all or nothing way of life.

So, Deb...search deep inside your heart...and keep making the choice to stay quit. You are so worth it and so able to do it.

Lots of Love and Hugs

Welcome back Deb. I am pretty sure that most of us praticed quitting several times, I know I did. I finally decided that I had to just want it bad enough to be strong and be tuff and just kept telling myself "no". I can't count high enough to count the number of times I said "no" to myself, but "no" is the word. Be strong, Be tuff. Welcome back.

Thanks to all of you! I'm still hanging in there and I've quit so many times that I don't even have the physical urge anymore. It's the staying quit part that is the hardest. Hey Deb, glad your still here it's been a while.

I will be posting if I get the urge, not smoking.

Deb
