Thought I would give some ideas and tips on what you can do to get your mind off of smoking that has really helped me these past few weeks and in the past (when I stoped)
1) Start a hobbie - I learned how to play guitar the first time I quit. Pick up a puzzel, take piano lessions...do something you have always wanted to do but haven't done.
2) Eat Sugar free candy - Dont need to pay a visit to the Dentist. They pretty much make everything sugar free now!
3) Start working out to get your lungs going - I work out 4 days a week and do 30 min of cardio 3 times a week. Make sure you put weights into your workouts cause muscle ways more then fat and you will shed a lot of pounds with a good workout program. If unsure just ask!
The last one is very important cause smoking is a food suppressant, and once you quit you will begin to get your taste buds back and food has never tasted so good. So you will put on the weight. If you work out then you are just turning that extra food into energy! Also you will want to keep busy and eatting is one of those ways of keeping busy. So if you are going to eat. Grab Fruit!!!! All types Apples, Oranges, Grapes, Banana's etc...you get the idea
Hope that helps even a little...good luck and heres to us quitters!!!!

On the whole get yourself preoccupied when you crave for smoking, do take hot soups and pepper mint candy's as this has the ability to stop the craving... |

Ya, well said Erick. Keeping oneself occupied with some hobby or getting good exercise definitely helps relieve during the quit process.
The gradual withdrawal method to my experience, only works temporarily. For a complete quit, the primary requirement is a sound mental make-up with proper understanding. So many of us keep finding reasons / excuses for every smoke. The fear of failure too keeps us from quitting many times!!? What say? |
