I've quit many times. I've quit so many times friends have suggested I quit quitting and just accept being a smoker. Weird logic but I sort of get it.

One of my most powerful triggers is boredom. I'm somewhat of a loner. I like my own company and I like to sit and be still just reading etc. But, I am prone to boredom. If I sat outside reading it was one cig after another.

Well, I enrolled in online university, started going to Yoga twice a week, joined an adult Sunday school, took up hiking the forest trails and made a valid attempt to rein in all those down moments where I would invariably smoke.

I've been drinking gallons of water, eating better and, let me tell you, I've had this lifestyle for two to three months now and my whole thought process going into my quit was different somehow. The usual apprehension, self doubt, anxiety etc. was minimal and I feel a new found confidence in myself.

Now, I know nico-demon and how he works so, eternal vigilance is the mantra along with acceptance of my addiction. I guess knowing yourself and your weaknesses, along with, adjusting for those weaknesses is key to success.

Five Days, 10 Hours and 39 Minutes quit
9 Hours life extended.
Not smoked: 109 and saved $36.75.

Congrats on your success, Gary. I think you've found one of the secrets to quitting; know yourself and adjust to accommodate your quit. Fantastic!
