Twenty One Days and 1 Hour
Life saved 1 Day and 11 Hours
Not smoked 421
Saved $149.53.
I started smoking at age 11 (1970)
Quit at age 44 (2003)
Started again at age 46 (2005)
Quit again 3 weeks ago.
So 40 yrs of smoking and I want to wake up tomorrow feeling like I never smoked? Really? Talk about a much needed reality check. I deserve every short breath I take, every ache and pain I feel, every twinge and cold sweat I experience.
It's all good here support team, I'm feeling less and less like a smoker and more and more like a recovering addict. I have great people around me who gush support and I have these boards to come to and read and post. Life is good (and a whole lot cheaper).
Thank you everybody.
Just a tip to anyone starting out: Try yoga and mediation. It honestly helps to calm and relax you both physically and emotionally. Also, as your focus is constantly on the breath, it helps immensely with healing and reconditioning your lungs to life without toxins. _________________

Gary - when I was planning to give up smoking, I too thought that it would be hard for a couple of weeks and then I would suddenly wake up one morning as a non-smoker. This is despite the fact that I had previously smoked for many many years.
Sadly, it's not quite that easy, you have to just keep going along the road with some days being fairly easy and other days being harder, but very soon you will find that you have lots more easy days and some when you don't think about smoking at all.
It's so worth it - never go back! |
