20 years of age. Ive been smoking for the past 4 years, the first year minimal but the other 3-very aggressively. I've found myself smoking up to 20 cigs per day. I have the heavy breathing already, sometimes i can't read an entire sentence without pausing to take a breath. I usually get this burning sensation in my abdomen especially when i smoke on an empty stomach. Now, its there on and off, sometimes constant. . .My question now, how can i no the real damage to my lungs? Is there an x-ray i could do to no my status? . .im 3 days into quitting

See your doctor and ask if there is any damage. If there is any damage after 4 years of smoking, quitting will probably "fix" it. The sooner you trash your cigarettes, the sooner you're going to feel better.

Hello Dreamer, I hope you are now on about day 10 of quitting. It's very unlikely that you have doen any major damage to your lungs after only 4 years of smoking, and your lung function should remain about normal if you stay quit. You don't really need to have any x-rays at this point, and it is very unlikely that you would have any damage show up. Just contin ue your quit. It's easier at your stage in life right now than if you wait until you're 30 or 40 or 50. Keep up the quit!
Ben
