This addiction is cunning, baffling and powerful. Between the freedom from smoking program and the people there and on this site (Kevin was a large part) I successfully quit smoking for over 10 years. Last month I lit up a clove. I smoked for a few days. I quit for two weeks. Then I smoked for a week and then quit for a week. Then I smoked for a weekend. And here I am, after resolving to quit again this morning, smoking a clove as I write. My silly little brain told me a clove wouldn't hook me. Well, I'm feeling pretty damn out of control already. I'm setting a quit date of April 17th and I am going to re-read everything I seem to have forgotten. Prayers and support are welcome. I love all you people and I know the struggle. I want to quit before I am back to my four pack a day Marlboro habit. I don't even care about the expense. My daughter is pregnant and I don't want to be a smoking grandma. I was diagnosed with COPD when I quit ten years ago. I have no signs of that now and I don't want it back!!! Hugs and peace my newfound friends. And ps please take me off the quit list, because I just flushed 122 months.... Woe is me!!! Lol _________________

Sandi, I'm here for you and if you want my email PM me. I'd love to catch up with you.
I always tell people when they are quitting to use affirmations like, "I will not smoke no matter what."
hugs to you. _________________

Hey, pull your boots up tootsie and dust yourself off....you know the drill...you quit for 10 years so I know you can do it again. I was also diagnosed with COPD and that was hard to take. It is also why I want to remain a quitter.....I want to enjoy what time I have and I know you do too.
Prayers are sent your way and know we are with you daily. You may reach one of us quicker by facebook. Send a message if interested.

I am a regular Facebook user. Sandi Lorenzen is my profile name and there are only two of us on the planet. I am the one who is not blonde. I didn't smoke last night after posting and just went to bed. Woke up craving one. But so far, I just keep saying....
To smoke for me is to die
1 is too many and 1000 never enough
I will not take another puff...
Love you all and thank you for replying. _________________

Sandy - I'm pulling for you! Back to quit...and staying that way is very very do-able. Smoking anything is really bad idea...as you've discovered. I've caught myself thinking - a cigar isn't really smoking...or toying with picking up one of those "electronic" cigarettes....but I'm not going there!! Go for freedom...just stay focused on today...tomorrow will take care of itself...ONE DAY AT A TIME!!! _________________

What a nasty lie that old habit told you! Put it in its place. Then do it again. And again. Never let your guard down. It's a liar and a killer. It'll stomp on your happiness and consume your thoughts. Be free. Be strong. You can do this. _________________
