What wonderful words; without a doubt, written from the heart. Thank you so much. I hope you don’t mind if I copy and paste them into my “Getting Free” file. (The file I’ve accumulated to help me quit smoking.)
My wife and I read Jordan Rubin’s book, The Maker’s Diet recently. He talked about when he was so terribly ill that he began to pray and give thanks for each hour that he felt good. He wrote,

I remember thinking as I left the bathroom one time, "I may have a stomachache in ten minutes, but right now I am fine, so I am healed." And I started believing my positive statement and thanking God for my healing. I learned to count my blessings for the few moments that I had when I was free from pain and nausea. It was a valuable lesson in learning how to live a moment-to-moment life of thanksgiving. |
For every minute we’re not reaching for the cigarettes, we too have a reason to give thanks for being healed of our addiction, to give thanks for truly being free. We ARE so blessed. |
