For those of you who may not know my situation, I've been self employed for the past 11 years in the advertising/media business. For the last year, I've had one main client, who is continualy spending less and less, which means my income is less.
I've been looking hard for a job for about the last 4 months. The week before Christmas, my client suddenly e mailed and cancelled all remaining advertising for the rest of their contract. Essentially, I was out of business.
I've been using savings to pay the bills, and have gotten a little panicked. However, today I spoke with the president of a small local company that I interviewed with before Thanksgiving.
They want me to start working with them. I meet with the president/owner next Wednesday to discuss exact nature of position and money and when they want me to start.
This is considered a "local" job for this area, which means I only have a 1/2 hour drive (my alternative was looking in Manhattan and facing a 3 hour commute 1 way).
It will be a marketing/pr job...and since it's a new position, I think they are still working on how best to use my skills and background. the company makes custom wine racks and systems...and promotes a wine festival. go figure I'm also two weeks quit drinking wine! (the company is wineracks.com, if anyone wants to check out the website.)
We still have to verify the money...but if it's close to what I asked for...I'll live (it won't be a NY salary, but then again I don't have the NY hassle). with it. there are also benefits and health insurance...something I don't have.
Why am I telling you all this? Because before I quit smoking, I'm not sure I've have the confidence and nerve to get back into the marketplace, and really be looking forward to it. I'd be worrying about haveing a new job, and trying to fit smoking into the schedule.
No more. Now I know I can do this, and don't have to feel like a smoking loser!
so, celebrate with me. I want to all to go out tonight and have a great dinner and a drink...and charge it to my account. Be sure to come back and let me know how you celebrated my job.....I want details!

Sounds like a wonferful opportunity. And, a strange co-incidence ~ doing my post holiday cleaning and tossing some old stuff ~ I yanked out an ad in back of an 8/02 Wine Country Living Mag. for cutsom racks. Thought I'd place it in my design idea file. Then your post.....too cool. Maybe the universe is saying all is right!
I'm celebrating with you!!!! Woohoo!!!! _________________

Pamela! I was very excited to hear about your good news! Let's see how will I celebrate tonight for you. I already had my dinner, I don't drink or smoke. Oh did I say I don't smoke?
I already had enough sugar for one day.
So I guess I'll just put my feet up and relax and not do nothing for a change! Thank you Pamela for this good news and giving me a reason to sit back and just enjoy the moment!
God Bless!

Pam,
What exciting news! I'm so happy for you. Life is good!
Well, it just so happens... I like wine! So, I'll celebrate with a glass of wine. And speaking of wine....everyone raise their glass. A toast to Pam and her new job....
Hugs to You,
