Hi!
Has anyone experienced lower back pain as a side effect of withdrawal? My back started bothering me at first in the morning when I would get up, so I thought it was the way I had slept. However, it has gotten worse and hurts just about all day.
Also, I have just been feeling kind of yucky.
Day 15 and going strong....

HI Joy,
I haven' t heard of lower back pains as a side effect to quitting. (Congratulations on your 15 days, by the way) But I have heard and know from experience, that lower back pain is nothing to fool around with. Whatever you do, get off your feet get a heating pad and chill for a while. Go to the Dr. for scripts if necessary!! Go!! NOW!!!

Joy,
Do take care of yourself. If this discomfort doesn't go away, see a doctor. It may be something as simple as a muscle strain but it never hurts to be sure. _________________

i'm with nita on this; i don't remember ever reading about lower back pain being linked to quitting smoking, and my unsolicited medical advice is to see a doctor if the pain persists for more than a couple of days.
and congratulations on your first 15 days of freedom! you're doing great! _________________

Joy ~ I agree with the others. I haven't personally experienced lower back pain with quitting and I have read about anyone else either - I would go to a doctor.

Joy...I agree with the others. See a Dr.
I had no back pain when I quit. Lots of gas though.
Let us know what the Dr says.
Conrad's on your awesome quit.

Go to the doctor! maybe it was something you ignored while you were smoking and now are intuned with your body more! Get it checked out to know what it is for sure!
Take Care

Joy, you probably should go to the doctors if this persists. You could have a UTI or bowels could be a problem. Just from experience. Are you drinking lots of water?
Go to the doctors just to be sure.

Hello everyone,
Well, I've been to the doctor. I'm still having tests done and he has referred me to an Urologist. They found a little blood in the urine sample and he had me get a sonogram on my kidneys.
I don't go to the specialist until 3/2/05, so I will have to wait and see. I have found Motrin helps with the aches and pains and am drinking a lot of water.
Thanks for all of your concern and I will keep you posted!
Joy

Hi!
Well, I got the test results back. I have a small kidney stone! Better that than something worse! I still have to go to the specialist to see what he wants to do.
I did email my Mom and told her to "Thank" my Dad for this. It seems I've inherited a lot of things from him.....kidney stones, curly hair, allergies, hearing loss, space between my front teeth.....
My hubby is doing well with his Quit he is in his 2nd week!! YEAH!! Of course he still has moments, just like I do! We just help each other through the cravings. It has been 3 weeks today, for me! I can't believe it! I am so proud! Larger size pants and all!!!
Well, I better get back to work. Just wanted to keep you updated on the lower back pain!

Hi Joy. That's good news. Kidney stones can be "blasted," can't they? Seems I've heard of people getting rid of them without invasive surgery. My prayers are with you. Keep that quit going. _________________
