Hi All,
I just want to say that I made out okay on about a 3 1/2 hour trip yesterday to West Virginia with hubby who smokes in the truck. A lot of smoking in the casino and in the hotel room but I still remain smoke free..!! I just told myself each day like some do, that I will not smoke for today and once I did it seemed any urges were only a fleeting thought instead. I am bushed though from my trip back home today and I never sleep well away from home anyway.
I felt bad on my trip though but good at the same time. As soon as I got off a dollar slot machine, a tiny old man kind of humped over, took my place on it and on the 4th dollar he put into the mahince, he hit a $2,000 jackpot! It could have been me had I just stayed there for 4 more pulls!!! The good news though is that, I just think that old people are adorable and if anyone else had to win it, I was glad it was an old man. I can picture the guy buying his great granchildren something with the money. He looked so sweet, I went over to him and told him congratulations. And he smiled at me and thanked me and it reminded me of how much my mom would smile and say the same thing to me or some one else.
Well, I'm getting misty eyed missing my mom so I'd better stop rambling for now.

Hi, Barbara. Weren't you just coughing your head off in the truck? Afraid I would have been. Sounds like you had a good time though. Glad you're home safe and sound. _________________

congratulations on making through all that smoke! it'll be a long time before i'm ready for anything like that! Of course MA is smoke free, i don't know about the casinos, i've never been to one. maybe with all this money i'm saving!
i'm sorry you didn't win, but i have to agree that old people are adorable and he probably will spend it on great grandchildren.

Hi, Barbara,
Just wanted to say another Congrats on your trip! You are being a super quitter, and able to withstand all sorts of temptations! I am very proud of you.
Glad you told the story about the little ole man. I think destiny knows what it is doing, and this was supposed to be. He probably needed this money, and he strengthened you at the same time! Your attitude is wonderful! (Much better than wailing and beating your chest, which I might have been tempted to do! )
Love to you, _________________

Wow, Barbara…you did it, a trip with a smoker. I use to go everywhere with hubby now I find myself backing out of plans traveling because the smoke is gross. I wanted to go to Branson this weekend but changed my mind because I did not want to be trapped. This is sad. Your strength gives me renewed hope. Thanks for this post.
I still don't want to go to Branson for an over night trip.

Thanks all,
Sandy, one such trip to West Virginia in 03 I relapsed in the motel room. I've learned to close that back door though. I guess I've had some of enough practices at quitting to get it right this time. I will be very careful this Summer though because I've never gone a whole summer smoke free. I plan to tell myself every day that I will not smoke for today though, and to also tell my self when the thought of relapsing hits me, not one puff, Ever..!!
Many Blessings to all, _________________

Barbara - for the summer, just keep telling yourself how great the flowers, trees, and grass are going to smell.
