Wish me luck....I decided to throw my hat in the ring for a different position in my company - it would be a lateral move - but something different and a new challenge. Dusted off the resume and I have an interview in the morning. I've not yet been through an job interview as a non-smoker - why is it that all of these "firsts" just kick the thought of smoking to the forefront of my addicts brain??? Never mind...I answered that question for myself...its because I am an addict and ole Laughing Demon will take every opportunity to whisper...comeback...you always smoke when you..___________ (fill in the blank...) UGH! What a lie...but it WAS true...and I have to get through all of those things and break the link to the past and NOT SMOKE....so that next time...the brain doesn't associate the activity with smoking...today is day 300..smoke free....it really does feel pretty darn good so much of the time....

Just when I think maybe I've heard the last of old nicodemon and think that Laughing Demon gave up on me knowing he can't get me back... he shows up.....
Guess I'll just have to keep kicking him to the curb...I will not give up my freedom.

good luck with the new job, mary! (i figure all you really have to do is tell the interviewer that you quit smoking 301 days ago, and they'll realize that you can do anything and give you the job right away!) keep up that attitude, too! Smile

I feel pretty darn good about the interview. Started at 0830 and had one interviewer after the other for an hour and a half. Not once did I think about smoking...in the old days - I would have been a wreck after the first two interviewers, and in need of a nicotine fix...I'm so glad I don't have that worry anymore!

I learned there were 10 applicants, and based on resumes they selected three to interview...so I'm one of three....I like those odds... Very Happy They may make a decision by the end of the week - early next week at the latest. I'm curious who the other applicants were....no matter the outcome - its always a good experience to go through an interview! I'll keep ya posted.
Thanks for the positive throughts!

Hey, if they know you quit, then they already know they have a winner as Kevin said.....I am sure the rest of your resume was just icing on the cake.

Mary,

Any news yet? You did a great job! Wow, that took a lot of--well, a lot of everything--knowledge, self-esteem, ambition, and being darned smart! And you didn't think about smoking at all! Isn't it great? I love when that's the way it is, don't you? Smile

I don't usually check my horoscope...but I found today's interesting:

Something you have long wished for may come to fruition today. Are you ready for the changes this is likely to bring? Accept this as the wonderful gift that it is.

Maybe they will make a hiring decision today....
