Hi All,
I must really say that I have found out who my friends are since I've quit smoking. I can honestly say they were never really good friends to start out with so there should be no loss. Out with the old and in with the new. Two such friends have totally ignored me and not been there for me. Not to mention the in-laws. And one of the few good friends I found out are true friends, her and I will be taking the bus next month on a day trip to West Virginia slots. My other true girlfriend and I are scrabble buddies and she picks me up to take me to her house to play it and picks me up to take me to church. I am so glad I have quit smoking so I could see through the smokescreen and see those so called friends who I thought were friends for what they really are. My husband took me shopping last night and bought me some kitchen stuff and boy did that brighten my day since yesterday and helped shift my moods also. It is Greeaat to be smoke free and nicotine free.

Hi I'm Lula
I just wanted to say that since I quit (last month) I can pretty much admit to upsetting everyone I know with my moods and short temper! It's not something I am proud of and I have apologised as soon as I have realised I am being nasty. I suppose what I am saying to you is that I have realised that its ME that has changed, my family and friends are just the same, so when I get mad or think they are being mean to me they aren't! So maybe you are being over sensitive, which is perfectly understandable, and your friends are just giving you some space because you are a little uptight?
I must mention that I am also 7 weeks pregnant so apart from my quit I have a good excuse to be ratty and emotional!
Forgive me if I am wrong but I hate to see people lose friends!
Best wishes to you

Barb,
I'm glad to hear you are feeling better today!!!
You are so right, our eyes open when we quit. Maybe it's just the fact that we are willing to make changes in ourselves for the better....and others are still stuck "back there" somewhere in the fog. What I mean is you are growing and others aren't willing to. Just maybe your growth forces them to look at themselves, and they aren't ready for that. So, they begin to fade away.
It's like when we are a kid and we grow up. We grow up and leave behind those who refuse to grow up themselves. We move on with our life, ...reaching for enrichment and improvement. Those with the same heart will be our friends because they are on the same wavelength and understand. The others "just don't get it"
Just know you are a wonderful person with alot to offer!!!! Proud of you girl!!! Keep your confidence in you and your faith in the Lord!!!!
Love to You _________________

Hi All,
Another good day and thank all of you for your input. I'd have to agree that about the out growing of some of the people in our lives when we quit. Or something on that line. I am getting my confidence back a lot at times and am getting to know more of what I want.
My husband is working overtime tonight but I still cooked a great meal. Meat loaf and macaroni salad made the way my mom made it. I've had the ingredients for the macaroni salad from back last year planning to make it for my mom but never got the chance. I could never bring myself to make the salad until today knowing I had meant to make it especially for her. Now I'd better walk off supper.

Barb, your true friends will always be there for you...the rest never were real...if that makes any sense.

Barbara,
This is a terrific post, and I am happy for you to have your good friends and the knowledge of those who aren't that being quit is bringing with it! It certainly does, doesn't it?
Keep up the good work! You are the greatest! _________________
