Hi Folks,
Just to let you know, I may not be able to post as much temporarily. I can't see the keyboard very well! I got food poisoning Friday night and spent Saturday early a.m. and rest of day at the hospital--not admitted, just in the ER getting supportive therapy.
The bad news is that I retched so hard I partly detached the retina in the left eye. It's not really the retina that's detached yet (or at least not a lot) but the jelly stuff that is behind it. I forgot the name of it--will look it up later.) This jelly stuff is detached and just rolling around in the space back there, and pulling on the retina when it does. My eye doc drove in from the 'burbs today and met me at the hospital. He said in most cases it settles down after about 2 weeks, but in about 5 per cent of the cases, it goes ahead and detaches the retina. In this case it is emergency surgery (with lazers.) This is bad, bad news, but there is nothing to do but wait. I am going to call tomorrow and ask to see him again, because since I saw him I have bad, bad pain in the eye. This does not mean anything is wrong necessarily. I have also flashing lights and wavey line and very blurred vision.
Sooo...I will keep everything shorter than ususal, and catch up on thing a bit later.
If anyone is on the prayer wheel in the next few days, I could use some!
Thanks!
P.S. I still good to go for the Chicago Gathering, however--not to worry! _________________

Hey Margaret, hubby had the same thing...they did the laser surgery and all is well.....he just had to wear a patch for a few days...mainly at night to keep from scratching it....he also had the flashing lights and wavy lines...said it looked like a spider leg...

Thanks, everybody, those prayers are helping a lot!
It also helps to know, Kay, that someone else had it and still has the eye. I got a bit frightened over it. So really, really glad to hear those lasers work!
Today it itches like crazy and burns--both eyes--so I am glad I am seeing the eye doc again tomorrow.
Donna, thanks for the PM about this, too. Without wishing anyone else any misery, it is always easier to have company in the stew pot! Sorry, Donna, I couldn't resist!
