I'd go for a Lambrusco....kind of sweet - not too intense - pretty fruity. Not very expensive.... _________________

Well, Kay, since you now have 2 pages of replies to this, I guess we know where people's interests lie!
I can't drink red wines myself, because they give me Migraine. So I drink white wine with everything! Including, and especially with steak, which I love! (As I am definitely a red meat eater! ) I don't think there can be much to that drinking certain things with certain foods (sorry, wine buffs) because I like white with everything! I espcially like champaign! (With everything, also! ) _________________

Hey Kay,
Hope you found a wine you enjoy!!! I personally drink red with a meal and serve it slightly chilled not warm. Wine is an individual taste so there shouldn't be any "rules". However, I can tell you this.....the Italians have taught me that the wine made in a specific region is made only for the food in that region and not to be used outside of it!!!
I would love to fly back for every meal but at the moment it's not possible....so I buy Italian wine here!!! Someday........ maybe with all the money I've saved from not smoking

i'm not a wine drinker, but the owner of my favorite liquor store is a recognized expert, and he told me something that i found interesting (and this thread reminded me of it); he said that drinking red wines at room temperature was an aristocratic tradition started a long time ago - when aristocrats lived in castles - and that (since rooms in buildings with thick stone walls tend to be rather chilly) the "room temperature" referred to is actually about 40 degrees. _________________

Ok, here goes, the daughter in law picked up some Lambrusco and I am going to mix it with the orange juice and apples.....sounds good to me...and Melody is right...half the bottle is already gone.... She was going to the ABC store so I gave her the list of all the wines you guys had mentioned...that is the one they had at the time....we have everything bolted down waiting on Dennis!

How ya hanging after Dennis, Kay!?!?!?
Sorry to the midwest, but thank God if they can take the remnants of this one. Here in Virginia, I've got parts of my garden rotting in the ground because I can't get them up fast enough with all the rain. But, then again, I am not rationing water like 3 years ago!
Hope you, your family and your horses are ok! _________________

I am fine...we just had a few limbs to blow down from the trees but not too messy a clean up this time....I am thankful and no I did not drink all the sangria...it is like anything good...a little bit at a time and savor the moment.....ya know, this could be addictive....
