Well here goes excuse # 100,000,000,000,000.......I have no problems finding them. They are around me wherever I go. Today's excuses are, Im getting a visit from a cousin I'm not particularily fond of, I have a cousin leaving after being here for a month, and my daughters father popped up out of nowhere today, wanting me to call him. My daughter doesn't even know he exists and he's never laid eyes on her. How do I deal with this?? Smoking! Ughhhh! So frustrating! I think it's all just a test though to be honest with you. Whenever you try to quit, stressful things are going to happen just so you can have a chance to prove to yourself whether or not you are strong enough to say no. Thats the way I look at it. It's a chance to fight back. Wish me luck all, and thanks for the great advice! |

Dez,
Good for you!!! Important observation you have made....life's stresses will be there whether we smoke or not! Why compound the problems with the stress of smoking too.
Actually, stress depleats the amount of nicotine in our body, thereby throwing it into a need for a nicotine fix. We may "think" it's a coping tool, but really, it's just our body needing another fix due to a drop in nicotine levels. Take some deep breaths and face your stress and issues one at a time if possible. Life's stress without the smoke is possible to handle!!!!
And it does seem like we're tested when we decide to quit. Or is it that we are just moving out of the smokescreen and realizing that "life happens"!
Have you started the quit yet or set a date? Keep us posted and stay determined to quit and stay free!

deztynee,
You are so right, stressful things do happen in life...Whether we smoke or not....smoking changes nothing, it only keeps the addiction going...
Hang in there , you can quit this minute and then the next, they will add up...
My thoughts are with you, I know you can do this

Yes, stress will come regardless of smoking or not smoking....non smokers have stress too...so how do you think they may deal with it???? I always try to imagine how a person survives a bad day without the smokes since I could not remember that far back ...ya know, I think they just breathe...long slow breaths...

In the beginning it always seems like smoking helped us with stress. But you will see after a while that it really never did. It was just an illusion we created to feed the adiction. You will be fine! You are strong and can do this! BTW: I know just what you mean, however. It seemed that way to me, too. But just never give in, and before you know it you wil be quit a long time and ever so much better able to deal with stress.
Great job! Keep it going! _________________

As Rosanne Rosannadanna said, "It's always something!"
And, as Joey Buttafucco said....fugggggeeetaboutit!
There will ALWAYS be an "excuse", and you're tens steps ahead knowing that that's exactly what it is.
And, as Larry the Cable Guy says....."git 'er done!" _________________
