and exactly how much!!!?

After the recent revelations about quitting and getting rid of thoughts, longings, or desires to smoke..and making a firm committment to the quit. In other words, not looking back to the smoking past, but looking forward to the wonderful new and transformed life of freedom. I was doing some more reading and God showed me something. It's value! And boy does this area cover so much....not only just smoking, but it does include freedom!

Value is a worth we place on something. And in short, we chase after what we "value". We pursue what we value. God the Heaven Father valued us so much that He scarified His own Son as a payment for the all the sin of mankind. Without the price being paid for us....there was no way we were able to even come close to God...because sin, evil, and unrighteous God will not allow in His presence...for He is a pure and holy God full of justice and righteousness. So....yeah, that was a huge problem for mankind! Once we were sold out to the evil one by Adam...well, there was absolutely nothing that could be pure enough to pay the price for the justice God demanded. Nothing except His Son Jesus. So, God with His compassion and love for us....freely gave over His most prized treasure...His Son...to be crucified and shed His blood to meet the and pay the price for us. For it is written the penalty for sin is death! Now, that is pure love!!! And that is exactly how much He values each and every one of us. All we have to do is accept His free gift, believe on His Son, and ask for forgiveness. The payment is already made, our part is to turn to Jesus the Son, because it is only in Him we receive and are reconciled to God.

I say all that to show the importance and magnitude of value...what better example than the greatest value ever placed...God's value for us and His love.

This got me thinking about valuing the quit. Do I value my quit? And exactly how much? That's it!!!! Bingo!! Spot light time! We go after what we value! Yes, I value my quit. I'm sure we all do. The thing is this....how much? Do I value the quit more than the thought I've recently had to want to smoke when totally overwhelmed. Is the thought of a moment in weakness to light up worth (value) a lifetime of freedom? Now, stop a moment and think about that one!!! See that's the way the devil works...he gets us looking at just the current circumstance and not looking at what is really important. He likes to blind us that way. But, bottom line is I did consider it. No, I didn't smoke...but it has bothered me, that yes, I did think on it and consider it. So much to the point I posted a help post. So, I do have to think about how much do I value the quit. And with that is also the answer. Yes, I value my quit. The difference is that I shouldn’t value the smoking past, but be mindful and think on the VALUE of my freedom. See, that's just it...I wasn't looking at the value of being free!!! So, now since I do value my quit...I'm going to be bring to my mind the wonderful things I totally enjoy and value as a result of quitting. And, yeah, it's a huge list of enjoyments and thanksgivings. And as I think on these things and completely embraced them...the old will no longer have a grip or hold on me. And when a thought comes...it won't even be a consideration...because I'll be laughing and saying..."yeah right..I don't think so!!!!" to old Scowling Demon . See...with no value of the old smoking past, I won't be tempted! Because we only pursue what we value....if it holds no value...we don't bother with it...basically without value...it's just junk!!!

I think that's why Paul said....”More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,…” Phil 3:8 NASB

And….”Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal…” Phil 3:13 NASB

So, I will view the smoking past as junk and rubbish holding no value and press on embracing the value of the freedom I have now!!!!

Love and Hugs All

I have one more thing for you to look up deb and it is about the temple of god our bodies.

1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that theSpirit of God dwelleth inyou?

1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for thetemple of God is holy, whichtemple ye are.

1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Our bodies have never really belonged to us alone. We are able to just "use" them to house our soul. If we smoke we defile the temple of god that is our bodies. Just a thought.

Very Happy Leona,

More good scripture to hold tight to!!!

We are the temple the dwelling place of His Holy Spirit!! Thank you!!! and also we arent' suppose to grieve the Holy Spirit. And I bet that stinking up His house is just as irrating to Him as someone stinking up our own home...for it is His home!!! Wink

Thanks Leona!!! Very good verse!! God speaking once again! Very Happy

Well I'm not good at quoting scripture although God is firmly in my heart so I'll give my comment. This is the path you have stumbled upon it at last. Value your QUIT to the point where all the rest dims in comparison. It's a great path just seems to be hidden and elusive to some but once you are on it truly on it you will find it is easy to follow. Wink
