Hey all,

I won't be on the boards for a while. I fell and bruised a couple of my ribs pretty badly. I went to the ER and the Doc said he had good news and bad news. The good, is that the ribs are not fractured and the bad, is that they will be very painful anyway. Crying or Very sad

Thank goodness for pain med because without it I could not even breath. The pain is very intense so I can't imagine what a broken rib feels like.

I will check in but, it is too painful to type at the moment.

Deb

I'm sorry to hear this deb. Hope you are feeling better soon. Rest and soak in a warm tub with epson salts should help a little.

You are in my prayers.

DEB,

Bruised ribs are more painful than broken ones--especially if they are clean breaks or fractures--I have had both! Used to break my ribs a lot teaching school.

I hope the doc told you about breathing. It is VERY IMPORTANT to take about several deep breaths every so often. Otherwise, if you start to breath without using your full lung capacity, the unused part can develop pneumonia. It won't happen unless you go for a good while like that, so I didn't mean to scare you. BUt you have to breath through the pain--at least some of the time, and take deep breaths, even if it hurts.

The worst goes away in a few days, but the moderate lingers. Just do the first few days with the breathing and you will be fine. Ice helped me for the first 3 days, then heat.

Pamper yourself, and keep your mind busy, too.
Hope you are feeling better very soon!!!! Smile

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I'm still in a lot of pain it's so bad at times I can't even move. I have the most difficult time in the Morining when I wake up. I guess, because the pain meds are worn off and I'm not setting the clock to make sure I take them on time......I've learned that this is a big mistake. This morning my Hubby had to lift me out of bed and help me into the bathroom Embarassed the pain was so intense.

The other problem is that once the meds are working I feel better and start doing to much. This is not good I have to try and relax and not get cocky once the meds are working. Very Happy

My house is in a shamble but, I guess it's more important that I take it easy and let my ribs heal. Sorry to ramble but, the meds are working and feeling a little spunky thats why I got on here this morning, just wanted to catch up on the boards Wink

Have a great day all!

Deb
