Hello everyone,
Most of you know hubby has been semi retired and alot of adjustments had to be made....well, I think we survived it
He had started woodworking and it has really caught my interest....so I think I just may give it a shot also....found a woodworking mag for women that confirmed that maybe I could do this....I think I would like the lathe...turning as it is called...
Any other woodworkers out there???

No, I'm not a woodworker but I'm convinced that YES, you can do this. After all, you quit smoking, didn't you?
Have fun and be careful. Those tools are dangerous. _________________

Not us, Kay, but Mr. Bill's brother in Troy is really into it. He's made some lovely pieces for us (bowls, candle holders, etc) that are too cool. I think it can become an addiction in itself, and I'm sure you won't have any problems getting lots of info.
Have fun... _________________

I used to love to build things like benches and picture frames. Then, I got into brick laying (no joke!). Honestly, if I thought I wouldn't destroy my body (back/hands, etc) I would work as a brick layer, regardless of pay. Instead, my fear of back surgery keeps me from this path! lol!!!
Congrats on living a great life, Kay!!! _________________

Kay,
Woodworking sounds like fun.
Alleghany,
You must live in the South where brick houses are the norm. I think the pay is great, sure you don't want to think about it? Just kidding.

Kay - go for it! Just follow all of the safety guidelines when it comes to power tools! I wish I had the space and time to try so some "re-finishing"... I love taking a pretty piece of old furniture and returning it to its original beauty - the feel of just sanding wood is wonderful! Have fun! _________________

Hubby says he does not want a lathe....translated this means he thinks I will cut my hand off or worse yet, sling the carving tool in his direction so I will probably look for a mini and buy it myself and if I can turn a 4 inch bowl then go for the bigger one
I was right at buying him a planer to go in his shop.....but he has been a bad boy so I will wait a few days ( It does not pay to mess with Mama!)
