I posted this at FFS last night - thought I would spread it around a bit more. The more I think of a person doing this, oh it just sickening. Crying or Very sad

Hi everyone
Just finished my afternoon jaunt, You all know that the time differnce is a few hours different here, so don't think I am wierd cus of the time there, Anyway, I was going down the sidewalk and I watch a man bend over and pick up a familiar item. A snubbed out partiually smoked cigarette, with a red ring on the filter, I had to stop and observe this. My natural curiosity. He walks about ten steps, pulls out a lighter and fires up this partailly smoked butt. Mind you, this was not his butt, the red ring on the filter, Lip Stick. Now this guy did not appear to be someone who was homeless, nice slacks, nice jacket, nice tennis shoes, clean shaven, just desperate for a fix. Oh how glad I am that I QUIT.
Jim

Wow. It's amazing what addiction can bring us to. Very humbling and sobering post, Jim. Thanks for sharing.

I started smoking (at 13) by smoking my mother's butts from her ashtray. That's so gross now that I think about it. And they were Merits. Ewww.

Wow. Last night my husband and I were in a pharmacy (which I can't believe still sell cigarettes!). When we left, my husband asked if I heard the addiction in the voice of the woman ahead of us in line. (I hadn't because being hyper active I had wondered off like child!!! lol!!).

Anyway, he said she was freaking because she only had a $100 bill and they had to call the manager. She said she didn't care about her boyfriend, but she had to have her favorite brand of cigarettes right now!!!

We both agreed quiting smoking was on of the best things I have ever done. Cool

Sad how sad Jim. As poor as I was in my younger years I never picked up a smoke on the sidewalk, or anywhere I might see one lying around.

All I can think of is how sad this addiction really is.
