MS is an unpredictable and devastating disease that can attack any of us in the prime of life. Imagine, one day you are ready to take on the world... and the next you are faced with the diagnosis of an incurable and debilitating disease. That's why I'm participating in the MS Walk and asking you to help me make a difference.
As you know MS has touched my family. I'm walking this weekend in memory of my little brother Dennis who lost his fight with MS after four years in a nursing home. His MS was so severe he couldn't even feed himself. I'm also walking to give to my big brother, David, hope for a cure. David also has MS. His symptoms are not disabling yet, but we need more research to find ways to slow or stop the progression of this devastating disease.
If you can help..thanks...if you can't - that's ok too...and I'll ask you all to say an extra prayer for a cure...here's a link to my pledge page:

This year I know I won't have any problems with the 10 mile course... _________________

I admire your dedication to the cause of MS, Mary. It seems that most families are effected by MS. There are two in our extended family; one is wheelchair bound, the other much younger and doing well most of the time.
You have my thanks for participating in the MS walk. Be careful and stay safe. I'm praying for beautiful weather for the walk. _________________

I have 2 very close friends with MS, Mary. It seems like it affects so many people these days.
I wish I was there so I could walk with you (and so have all my miles I walk everyday count for something )!
This is such a great cause!! Keep us posted on the details. _________________

|
|
It was pouring rain when I woke up in Erie this morning and the Weather Channel showed a giant green blob over the lake ....BUT...the sun came out...and although it was very cool (mid 40's) and the wind chill making it feel like the 30's...WE WALKED!!! My big brother and his finance walked 5 miles. My sister and two of her friends walked/jogged the 10 miles in about 2.5 hours. I walked the 10 miles in less than three hours with Isaac (Dennis's 12 year-old son) and Dennis's mother-in-law (a very fit & active retired teacher/senior citizen). We'll weren't in a huge hurry...and Isaac set the pace and kept right on going to the end...started slowing down a bit the last 3 miles or so - but he did it - 10 miles! We were all a bit teary eyed when Isaac said he missed his dad so much...I told him I missed him too.
I'm so glad it wasn't raining when we were walking! I could handle cold - but wet and cold would have been miserable...we had clear skies until we got to the finish line and then the clouds rolled back in...who ever was praying for good weather - your prayers were answered...thanks!
Yes! We did it! _________________

I wish I had seen this thread earlier. Can I still make a donation? _________________
