Very Happy Hi all,

I am proud to announce that my addiction to chocolate kisses seems to be ceasing. I will not have had any chocolate kisses in 3 weeks this Saturday. I must admit that I tended to pick up on eating other things but not in excess like I did the chocolate. I just tell myself not to bring the chocolate candy into my house and I don't. Sometimes I want something to eat but it's not necessarily the chocolate candy, just the habit of eating. I am getting to the point now when I crave something I drink water and bravo my craving goes away. I am very hopeful that this is the beginning to my better eating habits with taking one thing at a time. I want to get my cholesterol down and lose some weight.

Barb,

Good for you! It's very common to trade addictions...ie smoking for eating, etc. Now that you have a good, solid quit....you've moved on to conquer the chocolate replacement. Awesome! Wink

Keep the water coming! Very Happy

Hugs

Good for you. I'm fighting a slightly elevated cholesterol number too and have been eating a more healthy diet. I'm actually enjoying meatless meals -- something I never would have thought of years ago.

Veggies and fruit are good substitutes for chocolate. While not quite as tasty, just think of how healthy they are.

I just weighed myself I gained 5 pounds with my quit of about 50 days. I noticed that I am switching between chocolate and salt.

Patty,

That's pretty common and normal. The chocolate actually has qualities that act as a type of replacement for the nicotine. Alot of people, eat chocolate when they quit. The body just seems to crave it. The trick is not to eat too much of it. Wink Laughing Laughing Laughing

And hey, 5 lbs in 50 days in not a big weight gain. You should be very proud keeping the weight gain at a minimum! Smile

Hugs

Very Happy Hi Patty and Deb,

Patty, I went back to the chocolate and it seems that I have this love/hate relationship with chocolate since quitting.

OK, I had to Google it. I've always loved chocolate since I was a kid, and this stuff looks like a chocojunkie's dream! I am going to have to try this out for myself, I think. BTW, my wife says dark chocolate is actually GOOD for me. Something about chloresterol or heart disease or something like that - you can Google that while I find out where to get Lindt Dark. (Almost sounds like a beer, hmmm...)

Is it just me, or is it getting thirsty in here? <G>
