Well, I can not begin to thank all of you for welcoming me and helping me with this incredible journey. The nice little euphoric feelings that I got at the end of last week ("Is the normal?") have gone. Now, I am having concious moments where I feel a deep sense of peace because of my non smoking. As I am in a different place (literally!) than I was last week, I am having tons of triggers. Just letting them come and go with a reminder to myself that I am now a non-smoker.

Best first of last week ~ DH came home from a long business trip and kissed me for the first time as a non-smoker. (In my previous, feeble attempts, I never got past 25 hours! Crying or Very sad )

Also, gift to myself ~ my new signature here. There is a certain place I went over 10 years ago that had a beautiful plague that said "Please enjoy smoking." It was the most nighmarish, sci-fi, weird thing I had ever seen. I continued for the last decade to tell people about it because even as a smoker, it bothered me that much. So, I have decided to shift it around and say "Please enjoy quiting."

Maybe this should have been in the rambles....LOL!!!! Laughing

Thanks, again, everyone! Cool

Alleghany:

One week is a tremendous start! So many people fail before getting that far. You can expect another couple of tough weeks, but not as bad as that first week.

It's a cliche, I know, but true nevertheless... take things one day at a time.

Thank you ~ everyone ~ for your support. Like most everyone I have my ups and downs. I deeply appreciate being able to read the encouragment.

Now, if I can just figure out why chocolate is a trigger?!?!?! Please, God, don't have me give up chocolate, too! LOL!!! Laughing Seriously, I used to hate smoking after eating cholcolate. I guess now it is more about the caffiene than the taste. I might just have to keep eating chocolate until the trigger loses its effectiveness! j/k! Wink

My prayers are with each of us for our success!

Congratulations Alleghaney

One week is great but I think you need a better reward. While I applude your desire to have a tongue and cheek moment from your past I believe you need to do something more substantial for yourself. For example:

1) dinner (with all the money you saved

2) a pampered evening (bubble bath and beauty treatment)

3) manicure and/or pedicure

4) Cute boots (my favorite reward)

Please be sure and do something for you. Take care this week some find the second week worse than the first but if you keep drinking your water and using your subs you will be fine.

Take care of you

PS Chocolate is Gods gift to woman

You've gotten through hell week successfully. That's awesome. You're to be congratulated. I, too, felt very euphoric after my first week. Also felt great pride in my accomplishment. People who have never smoked have no idea just how difficult quitting is. That's why I enjoy these boards so much; everyone here is dealing with what I'm dealing with. You're hanging around with a great group of people.

Please do reward yourself. You certainly deserve it. Razz

Living free for 2M,5D,14H,45M and loving it.
