The Other Side of Addiction
How does it feel on the other side?
I ask myself, what do THEY think about.
THEY, who have never given themselves over to addiction,
THEY, who don’t push back the demon who whispers,
Softly...., sweetly...., Just one, jusssssst one.
I envy THEM for THEY will never know my world.
THEY will never stand staring, wanting, knowing,
It can not be in your life, but somehow is never truly gone.
THEY will never punish themselves, feeling weak and
Useless, unwilling to be loved, undeserving of it.
In this little corner of the world there is no THEY,
There is only us, we who fight everyday to keep,
the life that which we fought so hard to begin again.
Holding each other in a desperate dance around the demon,
Always knowing how close to the edge we really are. _________________
I wish you peace.

Only one word....awsome.
Alison, you have a gift of expression with words, that somehow manages to capture the essence of the subject as well. You are talented!
