For the second time in my life I've had a bout of vertigo. It’s terrible - I woke up at 4 am and the whole room was spinning - and sitting on the side of the bed, I realized my stomach was turning over so I grabbed a waste basket and was sick - couldn't stand up - so I crawled to the stairs and went down them step by step on my butt to the bathroom...then grabbed a bucket and crawled back upstairs to bed - thinking maybe it'll be better in the morning. Well - no such luck - had to find someone to take me to the ER - didn't want to call an ambulance. My sister-in-law came to my rescue - at that point at least I could stand up, get myself dressed and walk if I hung on to things like the wall for balance - upchucked as I was leaving the house, and again as I was rolled in a wheel chair to the admissions desk of the ER - luckily they took me straight to a room - stuck me on a heart monitor and pretty quickly gave me something to help with the nausea, and then the dizziness. Then had a CAT scan just to make sure it wasn't a stroke or a tumor causing it. What a terrible feeling - the world was spinning and I couldn't make it stop! I stayed over-night at my brother’s house – he didn’t want me to be alone overnight. I had felt fuzzyheaded all day Sunday - not bad - but just a little "off". Guess I need to pay attention to that feeling next time. I've decided to look up the "non-emergency" ambulance phone number and put it in my cell phone - just in case for the next time. Guess if you live alone you need to think things through and have a plan. And remember to keep the phone close by!
I took today off from work - and just resting - feel almost normal - still tired - but no dizziness or nausea - thank goodness!! I just wish I knew what caused it...and how to prevent it. I guess I shouldn't complain - it's been over over 15 years between episodes. Very glad it isn't persiting or getting worse! _________________

thats terrible. I think there are many causes. Your ears are fine?
my friend had it when she would look up at all for many months.
Not like you had it, not as bad.
I forget what they called it but its something you can get after you are sick.
I feel terrible for you. did anyone guess why it happened? _________________

OMG That sounds horrible. I would be freaking out at that point really. Especially if I was living alone. Hope everything works out for you _________________

I'm much improved - went back to work today - and even felt good enough to stop at Curves on my way home. I'm very glad my sister in law came to my rescue - and that my borther helped me through the first 24hrs - pretty miserable. But luckily I was able to sleep alot - and that seemed to be most helpful. I wish I knew how to prevent it from happening again - but I'm definitely on the road to a full recovery! Thanks for worrying...but I'm good and getting even better! _________________

Discovered tonight that a yoga down dog is not a good idea when recovering from a vertigo attack. Everything was spinning...my teacher helped me adapt the other postures and it worked pretty well - most of the time - I was able to finish the class and things calmed down to be able to drive home - thank goodness just dizziness - no nausea. Trying to get a little more sleep - so take care and I will too! _________________
