Hello all, I am currently going on 12 hours without nicotine. After having smoked for the last 20 years, 2 packs a day i am heving a preety tough time. I really believe the mental is worse than the physica withdraws right now. I haveheardthat the worst part is over after 72 hours and i am praying that is true. At 37 i really want to make this change in my life, focus on being healthy and finally break the chains of addiction. |

welcome to the site, alecia, and congratulations on taking back your freedom!
it's hard to say when things will get easier; it's different for everyone. but here's one thing you can count on: as long as you keep choosing life, it will get easier. the key is to concentrate on what you want (freedom) rather than what you don't want (withdrawal pangs).
you can do this! _________________
keep choosing life!

Alecia - I am at about 50 hours right now. I tapered, which was hell, but I still think it provided me practice on going periods of time without cigs. Get outside. Walk around for an hour. Watch one of your favorite movies. Go to the mall (and this from someone who hates the mall).
I am convinced I need to do two things to succeed:
1. Kill time until worst of cravings are done. Do whatever it takes to avoid nicotine of any type.
2. Be excited! Although I have bad mental pangs, I so can't wait to be a non-smoker.
Good luck! |

Please do all you can to stick with it...at your age you can make changes that will help you when you are older....do it now...don't wait...life is too precious not to be able to live it like you want to when you get older. Drink plenty of water, cranberry juice and post often..I lived here until I quit and knew it was done.... LOL

Keep it up! I cant add anything of substance to what everyone else has offered, but I will emphasize the get outside and walk bit. It helped me tons! And it gets easier every day. Focus on the positive and try to ignore the negative.
