WHO WROTE FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND?
Is Footprints In The Sand in the Public Domain?
One night I dreamed I was walking
Along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.
Other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed that
During the low periods of my life when I was
Suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints,
So I said to the Lord, "You promised me,
Lord, that if I followed You,
You would walk with me always.
But I noticed that during the most trying periods
Of my life there have only been
One set of prints in the sand.
Why, When I have needed You most,
You have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints
Is when I carried you."

THE TRUTH IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD!
This website is dedicated to the memory of my friend Mary Stevenson and
to all of those who understand the importance of the truth.
During my twenty plus years with Mary this one question was asked by thousands of people
Is Footprints In The Sand in the Public Domain?
To best answer this question, examine the facts:
WHO WAS MARY STEVENSON?
Mary was from a poor family, who lost her mother at the age of seven,
during the Depression of the 30's. In 1936, during one of Mary's down times,
when she was locked out of her home, Mary observed the neighbor's cat
leaving footprints in the snow. She pleaded to God for His guidance and
was rewarded by penning the words to one of the most beloved, inspirational poems
FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND.
She was only fourteen.
Mary gave hand written copies of FOOTPRINTS
to other people, creating a chain letter-like affect.
At that time, she never secured a copyright on the poem.
I, Kathy Bee encouraged Mary to secure a copyright on Footprints in 1984.

When Mary was alive, she faced greedy, prideful and ambitious people, who claimed that
they wrote Footprints In The Sand. To date, the greatest challenge came
from a woman who claimed that she wrote a poem called
"I Had A Dream AKA Footprints In The Sand" in a wedding book, in 1964.
This woman, through her attorneys, in 1987 began receiving money from
large, well known companies. Below, I would like for you to
examine both poems, Mary's and the other woman's.
I HAD A DREAM/ FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was
walking along the beach with the LORD,
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the
sand, one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he
looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed
that many times along the path of his life there was
only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it
happened at the very lowest and saddest times in
his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the
LORD about it. "LORD, you said that once I decided
to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have
noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints, I don't understand why
when I needed you most you would leave me." The LORD
replied, "My precious child, I love you and I would never leave
you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see
only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

Margaret Powers' Footprints poem was written
28 years after Mary Stevenson wrote the original poem.
Is Footprints In The Sand in the Public Domain?
ACCORDING TO OUR CURRENT INFORMATION
If Margaret Powers were the true author of the poem,
then Footprints (due to the time frame in which she applied for a copyright)
would not have been in the Public Domain.
If you believe that Mary Stevenson wrote the poem, then it is in the Public Domain.
Mary's claim to Footprints (according to the current copyright laws)
places "Footprints In The Sand" in the Public Domain
(due to the fact that Mary did not secure a copyright years later).
* Public Domain means that anyone can use the poem. _________________
