activity on the site has always had its peaks and valleys, but it has been really quiet here lately. i'm not sure what we can do about it, either, except ride it out and wait for the next wave...

I was thinking about that the quietness) - I think part of it is I don't think anyone is still posting at FFS - because that's were I learned about woofmang - someone had to point me in this direction - especially since I had already quit - but was struggling a little to keep it going from the second to third month! Wonder if I can still log in at FFS??? Maybe I'll check it out after bowling tonight.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't post anywhere else now either. And I only check back in here a few times a year. I sure do miss you all though.

It's been ages since i stopped by, I guess I have officially moved on and while that is good I suppose I feel bad now that I haven't done my part to encourage other quitters. It's over 8 years I have been quit and the anniversary seems to get by me every year now. Usually I remember some time in the middle of June that I quit at the beginning so long ago. I do miss the folks I met here and at FFS but my quit is set in stone and I just forget to come here and do my part.

I encourage people in 3d but most of the youngsters around me are so blase about it, they think they will live forever and never pay the price for their foolishness. My two younger brothers (who now look older than me) continue to smoke despite the obvious side effects that are becoming bothersome. I know what they are going through, been there done that. I quit younger than they are now and I am convinced I would never have had such a healthy pregnancy (perhaps no pregnancy at all) if I hadn't quit when I did.

Even my young niece who suffers from asthma, refuses to accept that her asthma is made so much worse by her smoking. They smoke in her crowd, and she isn't strong enough or smart enough to see the long term effects even as her Dad demonstrates every day what she has to look forward to. Sigh, nothing I can do but live my life that best I can and hope my son never heeds the sirens call, or is pressured into letting the addiction into his life.

My Beautiful boy:

Can you see the love?

What a wonderful gift from my quit. Still keeping.

It's great to hear from you, Alison, and wonderful to know that your quit is still strong. You have a beautiful little boy there and are setting a very positive example for him.

Sorry your family continues to smoke but we can only do what's best for ourselves and pray for others.

Please let us hear from you often. We miss our old woofmang friends.

Some other quit smoking sites are having a lot of activity.

You should do some search engine optimization. Your site nowhere to be found on Google for important keywords like

stop smoking forum
quit smoking forum

Most important, your site doesn't rank for
"quit smoking support" The keywords in your subdomain url of this forum.

I actually only found this forum because your blog. Your "Tales from the quit" are a popular item from this site, it might be the only thing driving any new visitors to your forum.

always good to see you, alison - and what a great picture! Very Happy

thanks, eric - one of the unfortunate things about this version of the forum software (and which i think is still the case in version 3) is the very search-engine-unfriendly urls - but it's a little bit like the shoemaker with the barefoot kids; i'm so busy working on other people's website that my own are sorely neglected... Sad

Alison - yes - I can see the love! Thanks for sharing the update and photos. Such an amazing little boy! Take care and stop by when you have a minute or two! Keep putting it out there and leading the way - smokers have to make a choice - and they don't want to think about living without nicotine!
