I am so incredibly proud of my man (Marc for those who have inquired). He is holding strong through the inevitable coughing and nastiness that the first month brings (where you feel as the the cure is worse than the disease.) He is into his third week and we will celebrate completing his third week in San Franscisco. It is our first trip together and I will remember that the stress of traveling for the first time with a significant other can wear at already frazzled nerves (lets not forget the threes) and pledge my patience with him. I am an easy going traveler but I must remember what I experienced (the disappointment I had when everyone stopped cheering at my success) around this time in my quit. I would never had believed when I pledged to never date a smoker (sigh, I was as strong as an oak in that one.) that I would not only meet a terrific guy whose only real flaw was that he smoked but that he would quit smoking within 4 months of meeting me (something my ex couldn't manage in more than six months and in fact never really wanted to do).
I am lucky in so many ways. I have truely beaten this addiction, I never crave smoking or even think about it and with my boyfriends quit it is not even a part of my life. My health is improved and all that I had lost due to smoking has returned, my voice, my breath, and an activity level that rivals my much younger boyfriends. Life is good. _________________
I wish you peace.

Alison....he must be a really wonderful man. It says a lot about him to do this for himself and you. Have fun and enjoy every minute you have with him. Finding a true companion is a gift that is priceless.
It is wonderful to hear about the great things happening in your life and the health benefits you are reaping from your quit.
Thank you for taking the time to share with us!

Way to go Marc! Congratulations!
Alison, It is so good to hear from you. You are missed on the boards. Guess Marc has been taking up all of your time. That is nice and if anyone deserves this happiness you do.
Have a blast on your trip he is gonna do fine. How could he not with you by his side. _________________

Alison,
You are truly blessed! A good man, and one that is WILLING to change also for you. What more could one hope for? Wine and dine him in San Francisco. You both deserve it. Have fun. It's great to hear a story with an "happy ending". _________________
