Does anyone remember those candy sticks that were designed to look like cigarettes? I remember them being around in the UK when i was little, I even remember having them myself and strutting around pretending to be "cool".
Well I was shocked to see a packet of those this week at my local supermarket (France) I couldn't believe it!!
In fact, they weren't like the old ones - the box had been made to look even more realistic.
I was shocked and disgusted - I was sure that they must've been banned!! Maybe they have been banned in most places...but France is way behind on the anti-smoking scale...I was really shocked!!!!!!
The sweets were on the same stand as Shrek toys and Harry Potter goodies...I was realy disgusted!!
It really annoyed me so I thought I'd rant about it here!! |

I certainly remember them.....the tips were red so they looked like they were lit. I also thought they were cool! I don't know if they are in the candy sections around here or not. I will have to check that out

Yea, I remember those...we used to get those and I think we thought they were cool because our parents smoked, so we wanted our 'own' cigarettes. Kind of sick isn't it? They should be banned, but I think they are still around.

TERRIBLE!!
I used to use them when i was little and puff out candy sugar smoke! How stupid!! The person who invented that must be really really dumb. You want to reinforce good habits in kids not let them play make believe smoking LOL.
I remember I used to buy them and hide them so my parents wouldnt see I got them. I remember just feeling bad having them! lol
Can't believe they still make them, i bet i can find them around here too.

I am also shocked that they still make those. I'd hate to be the candy maker's gaurdian angel ~ that is almost a guaranteed lose! (j/k!!!)
But, then again, I just read about how "cool" hookah bars are. The article really went out of its way to make state how really, really cool people go them. _________________

Yes, I remember them...I used to eat them faster than most kids! They would hold them and act like they were smoking and I was gobbling them down...maybe kids will eat them before they realize what they are!!!
I thought they had been banned also...they should be all kidding aside!

You weren't supposed to smoke those? Man, no wonder I coughed so hard.

Okay, y'all, I am going on a candy cigarette hunt. Don't know what I'm going to do if I find them, but I just want to know if they are still out there. I think it's disgusting. When are we ever going to "get it" about these being poison for our children? I guess I could buy them all up and burn them in the parking lot. Hey John, you game? _________________

Geez, People, CHILL abou the candy cigs!
Have you not noticed that warnings are plainly printed on the boxes?
Warning! The Surgeon General has determined that use of candy cigarettes causes hyperactivity and cavities.
Children cannot claim ignorance of the dangers. They use candy cigarettes at their own risk.
Tom
P.S.
Think there might be a support group for kids trying to get off candy cigs? _________________
