Hi y'all I am still quit, so just dropping in to say hi, to leave a comment and to ask a question.

I am still having troubles breathing and was told before Christmas that I have chronic bronchitis. I was given a bunch of medicine that hasn't put a dent in my symptoms. I went for a follow up with my ENT yesterday and he said I should be better by now and is sending me tomorrow for a chest xray and PFT (pulmonary function test). I looked it up to see what is involved with that and it is nothing more than blowing in a tube first without using my inhalers and then after having used it.

I'm quite honestly scared about the whole thing. He seems to think it is nothing more than a surge of allergies after having quit smoking (my symptoms started last June). I have a tiny voice in my head, perhaps the nicodemon, saying I quit too late and now I have lung cancer or COPD or something. Hopefully it is nothing and everything will be fine.

So I just want to ask those who pray to say one for me today.

Thanks! And keep those quits going!

it's good to see you, Sarah! my Nana always used to say, "don't borrow trouble" - that was her way of paraphrasing "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself" - in other words, don't waste today worrying about tomorrow or second-guessing yesterday; if you believe that god is good, then god is always good.

Razz Good to hear froom you Sarah! I think we all tend to worry too much about any tests concerning health issues. Over the eyars, I've stressed out totally over stuff, just to find out that usually all the worry isn't worth it in the long run. I think we try to make oourselves crazier than we need to Sometimes!

Don't let old Laughing Demon get the better of you. Your strong enough to be quit for over a year, so him him to go take a hike. No matter what the outcome of your test, listening to Laughing Demon isn't going to change it one bit!

I'll send you some positive vibes, but I know all will be OK. Keep us posted!

Sarah,

You've been given terrific advice and I, too, will keep you in my prayers.

I had a pulmonary function test last year for what sounds like the same reason you're having one. It really wasn't an uncomfortable test at all. The indication was a slight case of asthma which is very, very manageable. As Kevin wrote "Don't borrow trouble."

Please keep us posted. We do care.

Don't panic Sarah - I tend to do that ..."borrow trouble"...can't help myself Embarassed

My first thought when I read your post was...have you been tested for asthma? You might want to ask your doctor if you haven't...

Hang in there!

Hi Sarah,

I was put through all the tests, including the lung function. I know how much it scared me, because I was still a smoker, so I won't say not to worry, of course you will. But think of it like this, Once these are done, you will at least know how much damage is done, (or not).

I had good lung function and I had smoked over 30 years. So it's not always bad. the test is not a hard one to take either.

Try and think good thoughts!

connie
