Hey everyone! I woke up this morning feeling like I sucked down an entire pack before I went to bed. My head is stuffy, my chest is tight, I feel like I can't get a good deep breath. Is this normal. I don't remember it from my other quits. I think I'm ready to experience the cold air feeling. Maybe thats next.

I never had that feeling, but I have heard it expressed by TONS of quitters, so it's probably pretty normal. Think of all the gunk in our lungs that is trying to clean itself out...If it doesn't go away though, be sure to get it checked out. Sometimes we blame things on our quit for too long I think, but it's so early for you, I'm sure that's all it is.
I never got that cold feeling either...I'm starting to feel left out _________________

Gretchen i am stillexperiencing that kind of sensation only mylungs for get how to get the air in the air also and i have to wait to gat any in it is scary.
Also for about a week my nose had veins bursting it from my sinuses. That was annoying as it felt stuffy and I was constantly blowing it not that that has stoped yet still blowing but at least the veins in mynoise quit bursting so now it is a normal blow. But I think it is normal. A friend of mine who quit 7 or 8 years ago said it is and she said some of the stuff is kinda scary. But I guess it is different for everyone. Yet the same too.
Two weeks, three days, 23 hours, 17 minutes and 5 seconds. 718 cigarettes not smoked, saving $123.99. Life saved: 2 days, 11 hours, 50 minutes. _________________

Gretchen.. I didn't have the stuffy head thing but I had the tight chest and difficulty breathing things for a few days early on in my quit. I thought it was really wierd because I'd never had a tight chest or difficulty breathing when I smoked.. go figure! But it went away!!
Someone told me that virtually any wierd thing that happens the first few weeks of stopping smoking is likely somehow related to stopping smoking (even if a bus runs over your foot.) Roll with the punches.. this too shall pass! If anything persists over a long period of time.. see a doctor... little things in these early days.. just make a note of it and hang on for the ride!
You're doing GREAT!!

I hate to be the naysayer here, but there are so many potentially serious things that this could be, I would recommend you see a doctor now. I am a great proponent of people seeing a doctor when they quit smoking. It helps to have a professional monitoring the strange things that happen to our bodies when we quit. I know my doctor has helped with a lot of questions I have had and knows what is "normal" and what is not. Take care of yourself. _________________

Of course, Carol is 100% right.. there's no harm in seeing a doctor now and it could help a great deal.. don't get worked up about it, or freaked out.. it's likely not anything serious and one of those things that's here today/gone tomorrow. But/and it's a GREAT idea to see a doctor.
Coincident to stopping smoking I developed a staph infection. I thought my skin was just having a reaction to stopping smoking... toxins were clearing out, etc. I sat with a terrible staph infection for over three months... it had NOTHING to do with stopping smoking.. just a bad coincidence.
You really are better safe than sorry... get it checked out.. Carol's always a voice of reason and wisdom!
