|
|
Hi Everybody,
I saw my Puplmonary doctor today, and he had the results of the Stress Test and other lung tests that I had done last month!! Great news!!
He said that my exercise level is way above that of most women my age (meaning that I am in very good shape, and more like a younger woman! ) And to think, I stopped the test before I was even tired because I did not want to take any risks with my back.
He also said that my heart, too, is functioning above average for a woman my age! He says the tests show that I have a very good heart.
THe BAD news was just what you would expect from an ex-smoker. There is a combination of mild to moderate ephysema (sp?), bronchitis, and asthma that together comprise the COPD that I have. It is exactly like it was when I quit a year ago. I was disappointed in this, and said to the doc that I thought quitting smoking would help! He said it will not fix it, but that by quitting I kept it from getting any worse. He said that most probably I will never need to go on oxygen because I have quit smoking, and because I exercise. BE WARNED! Once the damage is done, you cannot undo it, but YOU CAN PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE! So, do not smoke. Besides having to live with the results of smoking, I feel ashamed that I ruined a nearly perfect, God-given body with cigarettes!
Newbies and others, please take care of your beautiful bodies. Stop smoking now!
Love to you all, _________________

Margaret - I'm glad there was alot of good news from your doc....
Its too bad we can't go back and un-do the past - and since we can't - we must go forward, take it one day at a time and continue to do the right thing - support each other, be positive in our outlook and stay smoke free! _________________

Margaret,
Good to know these things isn't it?
I too feel bad about ruining my body with smoking in the past.

Margaret, this is a great testimony to those who want to quit smoking, or those who are even contemplating going back.
Sounds like your in pretty good health, though! By the sounds of your posts, you seem to have alot of positive energy! I can feel it anyways. Thanks for passing that energy along!
Great Post!
God Bless!
