I am looking for a red wine that can be served cold like white zinfidel...I really do not care for it at room temp although I guess after a glass or two it may not matter I still prefer it cold....the white zinfidel in enjoyed too much to have a glass a night anyone know of a smooth red wine that can be kept cold?

Sorry Kay,
I've never cared for wine so I can't help you there. I'm sure some one can.

HI Kay, I tried a White Merlot at a wine dinner party that was really nice. It wasn't too dry and it was served cold. I wish I could recall the label for you. _________________

I agree with Carla. But, I didn't really like Sangria until my husband took me to a new Tapas Bar. This place uses apples and very little citrus fruit in their Sangria. I hated the Sangria my father-in-law used to make. He used really cheap wine (I believe mistaking "light" for "cheap".) And, he put way too much junky oranges and I swear grapefruit into his mixture.

White Merlot is red and it is served cold. Sangria is a Spanish wine. You pour in into a jug or pitcher, add sliced fruit and serve cold. Both are lovely and fun. http://www.euroresidentes.com/euroresiuk/Recipies/sangria.htm I googled Sangria recipes and found this one. I think peaches would work well, but like the idea of apples. _________________

Shoot Kay, don't feel bad. I didn't know about the white merlot until a few weeks ago. I join several ladies at a monthly wine tasting dinner party at a local restaurant. They serve a five course meal with a different wine for each course. We have had a lot of fun and I've learned there is more to life than Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill! _________________

Kay I love red wine and all my friends pretend to be scandalized when I toss ice cubes in it but they have survived. I drink Masi usually and it's excellent with cubes. I've even drank it with chicken so technically that's a double. OOP'S If you like it cold and other's don't just add cubes. Problem solved. _________________

Ah, there you are Melody...I knew you must know a way since I remember you were a wine drinker....does it hurt a bottle of red wine to just be put in the fridge? I will never get all this proper stuff right....no red with chicken I assume.... I would have never thought the bird would care one way or the other...

I know drinking red wine cold is a big no no in the wine world. But i really dislike drinking anything warm, which is why i tend to opt for white. But I do love chianti, ice cold! I stick a good bottle of chianti in my freezer, to chill and drink it cold!! oh well hehehe.
^_^
Sangria is good too! We had that on the 4th.
Cheers! _________________

Yum, I love wine. My dad keeps his Livingston Chianti or Merlot (screw top) in the fridge. I have gotten used to it (wine snob that I am), though I prefer it at room temperature. I think there is what's called "chillable red" in the box in the grocery store. I can't be trusted with a whole box!
