My oldest sister called tonight to let me know my middle sister is going to have open heart surgery tomorrow. She did not think I needed to come down on my birthday because the heart doctor did not act that concerned about her having the test. She will have a triple by pass mid morning so please send up some prayers on her behalf. She is only 58 as of September and has already had abdominal by pass surgery.....I am not worried about me smoking but I am sure worried about this small frail woman coming through this type of surgery. My Dad had a triple by pass and it took him 5 days to wake up thus the multi infarct dementia.....I really don't want to go there again. The oldest sister is the one with emphysema so bad the doctor said her lungs were gone...so newbies who are fighting a crave...go ahead and light one up and your loved ones can sit by your bedside too! Sorry I guess that was harsh but please think about it.
Kay

Oh, Kay, I am so sorry. I just signed on and saw this. My Dad had bypass surgery, and came out of it, but that's not helpful when one is so worred as I know you are. I will be sending up those prayers and thinking of you! Please try not to panic (although again I know it's hard)...but we frail types are stronger than you think! My Dad was about that age when he had the worst one (he was not a frail type) and he was in intensive care for 3 weeks, but he did pull through and lived to be 83. I think it is a case of never knowing at all with this disease. I will be pulling for your sister.

And no, you are not too harsh! THe truth is the truth, and it can save lives.
You are right to say this.

Hugs, and I am holding your hand,

Kay,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your sister. Sometimes the harsh reality is just what we all need to remind us to keep the quit. My dad also had heart surgery when he was 80 he will be 88 next month.

Kay - Sending you and your sisters my prayers...let us know how it goes!

BTW - why is it that they think they are doing us a favor by not telling us stuff like that? it always makes me wonder and worry about what else they aren't telling me!

Dear, dear Kay,

You know you have my total thoughts and prayers. Once your sis gets through this "bump in the road," she's going to be better than ever. Please know I'm sending many prayers to you too.

Please keep us up-dated and, above all, take care of yourself.
