Hello everyone,

Most of you know hubby has been semi retired and alot of adjustments had to be made....well, I think we survived it Laughing Laughing

He had started woodworking and it has really caught my interest....so I think I just may give it a shot also....found a woodworking mag for women that confirmed that maybe I could do this....I think I would like the lathe...turning as it is called...

Any other woodworkers out there???
Kay

No, I'm not a woodworker but I'm convinced that YES, you can do this. After all, you quit smoking, didn't you?

Have fun and be careful. Those tools are dangerous. Wink

Not us, Kay, but Mr. Bill's brother in Troy is really into it. He's made some lovely pieces for us (bowls, candle holders, etc) that are too cool. I think it can become an addiction in itself, and I'm sure you won't have any problems getting lots of info.

Have fun... Wink

I used to love to build things like benches and picture frames. Then, I got into brick laying (no joke!). Honestly, if I thought I wouldn't destroy my body (back/hands, etc) I would work as a brick layer, regardless of pay. Instead, my fear of back surgery keeps me from this path! lol!!! Rolling Eyes Wink

Congrats on living a great life, Kay!!! Cool

Very Happy Kay,

Woodworking sounds like fun.

Alleghany,

You must live in the South where brick houses are the norm. I think the pay is great, sure you don't want to think about it? Just kidding.

Blessings,

Kay - go for it! Just follow all of the safety guidelines when it comes to power tools! I wish I had the space and time to try so some "re-finishing"... I love taking a pretty piece of old furniture and returning it to its original beauty - the feel of just sanding wood is wonderful! Have fun!

Hubby says he does not want a lathe....translated this means he thinks I will cut my hand off or worse yet, sling the carving tool in his direction Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes so I will probably look for a mini and buy it myself and if I can turn a 4 inch bowl then go for the bigger one Wink

I was right at buying him a planer to go in his shop.....but he has been a bad boy so I will wait a few days Laughing Laughing ( It does not pay to mess with Mama!) Laughing Laughing
