This is a quote from "memoirs of a Geisha" and although it is about greiving over the death of a loved one, I think we all kind of feel this way at the beginning of our quit.
"Grief is a most peculiar thing; we're so helpless in the face of it. It's like a window that will simply open of its own accord. The room grows cold, and we do nothing but shiver. But it opens a little less each time, and a little less; and one day we wonder what has become of it".
Hope it speaks to you about addiction and grieving for that friend.
And that it gives you hope that one day you'll realize that you've been free for some time.

That is it exactly. I rarely remember that window is even there, and it never opens anymore. It will be that way for you, too. I promise. _________________
