glad to hear she's home and that you're learning how to deal with the situation, sandi, and i think you have the key: you wrote that you were "...going to concentrate on loving her in the moment and not worry about tomorrow..."; i think that's it. stay in the moment, be there for her, and don't obsess over things you can't control (like what may or may not happen tomorrow).

The last few nights I have been sitting at home. My daughter has been curling up in my lap watching TV with me. I can't remember the last time she did this. I gave her her space because she is a teenager. What I am finding out is that she is still on the fence between childhood and young ladydom (is that a word?). She wants to spread her wings, but wants to know I am really there to catch her if she falls. It's nice. Just plain nice.

The Outpatient psychiatrist switched Megan's medication. It threw her into a complete Mania and she crashed and burned harder than I have ever seen. I readmitted her on Wednesday. I've been dreaming about smoking and I don't know why. I wake up with a sore throat and wonder if I am smoking in my sleep for real. Luckily, there are no cigarettes in the house..

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers on this wild ride. I am glad I quit smoking. She is in a medicinal fog now and I can relate to her, from the Wellbutrin/quitsmoking experience.

Love to all,
Sandi

was stress a big trigger for you? (i know it was for me...) that could be the reason for the dream smoking: it's a stress reaction that you're too smart to indulge in in real life, but your subconscious remembers it as one way that you used to deal with stress... (disclaimer: i'm not a real psychologist. in fact, i don't even play one on tv... Wink )

hang in there, sandi; sending positive thoughts your way.

Sandi,

This sounds like it is certainly a roller coaster ride for you too as well as your daughter. IT is very hard to adjust meds, as I understand it, and takes a while, but that they can be very helpful. YOu are the most wonderful Mom I have ever seen! You are so understanding and loving to your daughter, and I know she knows this.

I am sending you both healing thoughts, and all my good feelings and wishes for you.

Stress will cause that kind of dream with the smoking. I dremed a similar thing the other night. It was horrible, and I, too, thought I had been smoking in my sleep. But like you said, there are no cigs here, thank goodness.

I am thinking of you Sandi, and your wonderful daughter.

Hugs,

Well, I think I'm getting back on track. The shock and anxiety that came with Megan self-harming is finally fading. We are working with a series of therapists/doctors and things are looking brighter. I am back to concentrating on letting go and working on me again. I was so proud of myself when I didn't gain weight when I quit smoking. Well, God has a sense of humor because I have gained 28 pounds since the day I admitted Megan to the hospital. I guess lessons in humility can come from many different directions. Anyway, I just want to say a very big THANK YOU to all of you who listened, prayed, loved and responded. I am so grateful to have this place when times are hard.

I don't post much on woofmang, but I am thankful when you listen. I still spend time on Module 1 over at FFS. I am pretty sure that is where I met most of you anyway Smile I love you all and I truly cannot thank any of you enough.
