For the past 12 years, I’ve been plagued by abnormal results on my pap tests (the ASCUS variety). As a result, I’ve had numerous biopsies, colposcopies and a whole lot of worry to boot. One of my doctors once told me, “you might see a change in your pap test results if you stop smoking.” I thought, “geez, they blame EVERYTHING on smoking!” Several years ago, the American Medical Association decided to screen ASCUS patients for HPV, having determined that those without HPV were at lower risk. My HPV results were negative, but I continued to have an abnormal pap every single time I went. My doctor told me she was really concerned, because I wasn’t fitting the typical pattern. Most women with negative HPV results have at least an occasional normal pap result. I had not had one in eight years.
That is until I quit smoking. My pap test results were normal this time! |

Too bad they didn't test our brains to see if we were "normal" as smokers! How normal was inhaling all those chemicals? It's a wonder none of us have two heads!
(I'm just lovin' these smilies!) Glad to hear everything is "normal" again Lori. _________________

I, for one, am thankful I don't have two heads. Having an arm growing out of one forehead is bad enough. _________________

That is so cool. I am amazed at how many different ways smoking can harm our bodies. And conversely, how quickly our bodies heal and want to become healthy again.
Cheers to your good health! _________________
