Hi everyone. I just returned from a week long cruise, my one year reward. I had a great time and swam with sting rays which turned out to be an adventure of a lifetime!
I made several observations while on this cruise.
1. Smokers had a hard time finding areas to smoke in. However, they seemed to sneak into any area possible and lite up regardless of those around them. I thought to myself, "How Rude". They just don't care that someone (not smoking) is standing here. They just walk up and start smoking. Kind of weird thinking for an addict, don't you think?
2. Smoking and drinking really don't mix. I am not a drinker however, one night I did have a few drinks. We were in a piano bar enjoying some wonderful musical talent and I noticed a man at the bar seriously enjoying his cigarette. "OH, that looks so good" I thought to myself. Immediately, thoughts of others I had seen on the ship brought me back to my senses.
Visions of those walking around with oxygen in their nose, of the woman without teeth that was smoking, of the couples huddled in the corner smoking away and how tanted their skin was ran through my mind and I thought... "I'm so glad I don't do that anymore".
3. I enjoyed countless activities without once having to stop to feed the addiction. I enjoyed myself and had the energy to walk up and down stairs and up and down streets as a tourist without a cigarette in my hands.
I am truly free of the enslavement of smoking. As long as I don't light that next cigarette, I have got it made. I am always aware that just one puff will lead me right back to the full blown addiction again but it felt good to be free.
I am home now. It was a wonderful week without children. I'm coming down from the natural high and that is kind of rough but I know it will be ok. I have wonderful memories of my reward that will last me a lifetime.
For me... for today.... the thought is "Smoking No More" _________________

Can you imagine trying to spend 3 1/2 hours with the stingrays 1 1/2 years ago? Bet you couldn't have.
I'm glad you had a great reward trip.

WOW Shevie, I didn't even think of that! They probably wouldn't have let me hold them either. Amazing how life as a non-smoker is so much different! _________________
