I think I am determined to take a trip to the ER. And with no health insurance at the moment I don't know where that determination is coming from ... LOL!

Yesterday I fell backward in the bathroom and hit the back of my back and head on the corner of a drawer. I got a inch gash/cut on the back of my head/scalp. It needed a couple of stitches, but we took care of it ourselves.

Today we did yard work and I got eaten alive by I don't know what. I didn't even realize I was being bit. Not until later when I was inside. I have these whelps all over me.

So I have this horrible bruise on my back from the fall. A gash on my skull. A swollen knew from some bug bite. And whelps up and down my left leg from bugs.

My husband was freaking out yesterday that I may have a concussion and now today he thinks I got bit by a poisonous spider. LOL!

I can't help but laugh. I look a mess! Laughing

Be very careful, Free. We have the most cases of West Nile virus here in the desert of all places and there's the Brown Recluse.

Have yourself checked out just to be safe...especially with the head injury.

They have to take you in at the ER without insurance.

Oh dear, Free. Swaneem is probably right...best to get checked out and make sure. And she's also right that they have to see you even without insurance. So, you GO, girl!

Here in Fla, we have lots of creepy crawlies and poisonous plants. Seems like everytime I'm working in the yard, I come back with welts from who-knows-what. I keep Benadryl or something similar around for those instances.

I sure hope you feel better! Let us know...

Rusty

The head is healing up & the swelling from the bug bites has gone down.

I'm up, ready, having my cup of joe and just about ready to leave for church.

I appreciate the concern guys, but even though the ER HAS to see me, they will also send the $1,000+ bill to my house. I'm sure I'll be fine, if I wasn't I would go. I think my hubby is overreacting cuz he lurves me. heh!

Well ... it is off to church with me.

ttys,

Hi Free. Just a suggestion. I can understand your concern about the ER and no insurance. Their bills are astronomical. How about going to your friendly pharmacy and talking to the pharmacist. They're really knowledgable and may be able to suggest a treatment for your bites -- or whatever. Please do be careful. There are so many "things" out there that can cause us problems.

Good idea Jo! I have to run to the store to pick a few items up. So I'll yak at the pharmacist while I am there.

Free,

Bless your heart!!! Sending a big hug (((((((Free)))))))

And yeah...those ER bills do come...like it or not! Try some cortizone cream for itch. Or nosporene (sp?) if it gets infected. Chin up Girl!

Love and Hugs

The cortizone cream is working good. The bites are almost all gone. The back of my head is healing up really nice. It is still tender and very sore ... but gonna live!

Pharmacist said he didn't think I had a concussion as my eyes are responding to light and what not.

I've been being extra careful this last 24 hours.

I just have to make it till Jan 1 ... insurance finally kicks in. Hope we can make it until then without a disaster!

Goodness!

Fondly,
Free

Great idea to talk to your Pharmacist. I do that, too, sometimes.

Be careful with spider bites. I am allergic to them, and you described exactly what would happen to me if I got bit by one. Not meaning to scare you, but if the whelps keep returning after they go down, you will have to have treatment, or if you see any red streaks running out from the bites.
Otherwise, I'd think you were OK.....spidy-wise! Wink

Do you have any Free Clinics whre you live? Usually there is always one somewhere around. Although you have to wait a really long time (like all day) to be seen, maybe that would be something to keep in mind until the Insurance comes through.

I used to live without insurance when I was young, and now see that I was just plain lucky most of the time. I went to a Free Clinic for colds or stuff like that.

Anyway, hope you are feeling fine now! Smile

I do not know of any free clinics. But I think I'm in the clear this time. No more bug bites bothering me.
