....Give me coffee and no one gets hurt!!!!
I am at the end of my computer rope!!! And the only thing I want right now is a good cup of coffee.....cause I'm ready to hurt something!!!
This connection problem is getting to be a bit old. I can't do anything! Log on...and click! Log on and do a little...and click. UGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Ok, I'm taking the kids to the corn maze and I'll be back. Computer you better straighten up...cause I'm ready to throw you out the window and take a sledge hammer to you! Did I meant it's a dinosaur model? Oh Lord, have mercy....I need a new computer.
It was either rant or hurt something! Coffee...is it done yet! Ahhhh...sweet caffiene!
And no, I won't light up...just hurt something...like this machine! Hmmmm...maybe I could light a fire under it...we do have a bon-fire pit!

Deb,
You're so funny at how you describe your aggravation. Coffee is always good. _________________

Hi Deb,
You are funny! But wasn't it you that once said to me: "Here we are way out yonder in dial-up Hell?" Just kidding, but it is, isn't it?? I had the desire today to pick mine up and throw it through the window!
It has gotten so bad, it takes 5 to 10 minutes to download every page. I finally gave up this a.m. and did my business by phone instead.
Don't know about you, but I really need a new computer as well as a better connection.....but alas! No money! So.......I'll be joining you in the cup of coffee!! _________________

Thanks Guys
What else can I do but try to have a little humor through it...or the machine may find itself in the bottom of that fire pit. It's still acting up this morning!!!
Pull up a chair Margaret...I'll go grab a cup for you and the coffee pot. We may need a full pot for this.
Yeah, Margaret...yep, I said that before...and it is pure dial-up hell! If it's not the machine, then it's the phone line when it rains, snows, ices, or just gets plain cold. You should see what the telephone co has done. There is a line that is strung across the top of fences down the road. It's not a cable, it's a line about as thick as just a plain ole phone line to the house. I fight with static, no service, bleed over calls, etc. I've gripped and complained, but no results. Wonderful! Then, of course, there's the extremely slow response in data transfer when I am able to stay connected.
Ok, I best quit thinking about this or my Saturday is just not going to be perky!! And I want a perky Saturday!
So, more coffee...and will attempt to patiently struggle through with what I have.
Yeah, those computers aren't cheap. I've been eyeing a laptop....at the tune of $1500. But, with freight slow and several major mechanical breakdowns plaguing us within the last few months....don't see that happening real soon! Oh life...just got to love it!!!!

Hey, Deb, how about saving up your rewards for a new computer? I know exactly what you mean about the dial-up speed (?). We finally splurged and went to cable. I can't believe the difference. It is a little more expensive but not too much and it's really worthwhile. Good luck with your computer (Alien Brain). _________________

Deb,
I've had my laptop for a few years and paid $600 for it and we just bought my mom one for $800. There's always specials on them.
I love mine....it's a HP Pentium. Unless you have your heart set on the $1500.....
And....Jo....you're so right. For the money we spent on smoking....we can afford something like this in a few months.

When we switched from dial-up to cable, we dropped 2 Earthlink accounts and one phone line. For Internet and phone, we broke even. But we splurged and got the digital cable TV as part of a package. If I ever had to go back, I think I'd just do without.

I would love to get a cable connection, but I'm doomed to dial-up as my only option here in the country. Yeah, shevie, we have the second phone line also. DSL isn't even offered here! Bummer of bummers
Girls, Jo, Donna, and Shevie...join us for a cup of java...(trotting to kitchen to get tray with coffeepot and mugs...not cups...we're talking so serious coffee drinking here...cups just too small!)
Donna, I do have my heart set on the $1500 model. It has all the bells and whistles needed for anything that might be thrown my way. The laptop needs to be adaptable for the road and lots of multi-tasking with high graphics. Plus I'm partial to Gateway. So, I'll bide my time and save my money. And yep, Jo...you were reading my mind! Money saved invest in something I would really like to have. We could use a desktop computer also, but I believe I'll get a laptop first. It's my dream to write, and with a laptop I wouldn't be confined to just the desk. It would be great to write anywhere...the couch, the kitchen table, the recliner, just anywhere. Plus I wouldn't have to share it with the kids. (Huge benefit there!!!! ) And wouldn't ever have to hear, "can I get on yet"!
Well, girls, bent your ears long enough. It's been fun having you all over for coffee...We'll have to do this again real soon!
