Over the course of time of being on the boards and from personal experience myself, people relapse. This addiction is wicked, and sometimes it takes several attempts to finally arrive at a quit that sticks...and I believe it's more of a growing process of learning to let go and finally releasing oneself from the attachment to the cigarettes. To make that heart decision to walk away and not look back.

And time and again, people have posted of the embarrassment of having relapsed and the associated shame. And the ones who have posted are the ones humble enough to quit again and never give up on quitting. And yet, I wonder how many out there lurk in the shadows and never post or attempt again because of the guilt and shame, and give up on getting quit. Feeling all the while that it's a loss and not possible.

This is for those people...as I read my morning readings I came across this encouraging statement. It was a paragraph within a larger devotion on equipping the saints and a strong church, but I found the truth of these words in this section of value for us here.

A world-class musician told me he could always tell when a "live" album was truly live by the mistakes, which gave it life. If your church or your ministry does not make any mistakes, then it is because there is no life in it. People make mistakes, and possibly the greatest faith that pleases God is getting up after making one and pushing through. As Proverbs 24:16 states, "For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again...." Let this sink in—a righteous man falls! A righteous man actually falls over and over! But a righteous man also keeps getting up!

It's not in the failure, but in the persistance of trying again. The endurance to keep going and never giving up on getting to that final quit. So those who have fallen and do not feel as though it's possible to quit...don't give up. Keep going. It's not a final defeat...that is if you actually get back up and go again. The only defeat is the one of not trying.

So, those who read, and are unsure,...jump back on the path. We welcome you to quit and walk on in freedom.

Never give up on quitting.

Hugs

AMEN!!!!

NEVER quit quitting....There is a lesson that the quitter must learn every time they choose to return to feeding their addiction - and there is no shame in learning what didn't work...as long as you get back to the hard work of quitting and learn the lesson and try again.....

Well said Deb....
