Hi All,
As some of you know, the Goodwill training program did not work out for me. Yesterday I started a non-acredited course at the local community college and it was so much better than the class at Goodwill. This is somewhat my understanding of what I found interesting yesterday that I have learned. If anyone would like to elaborate on the subject please do.
Anti-spam software cannot detect what is written on a graphic so that is how a lot of spam still gets to us. The anti-spam software picks up keywords identifying the spam as spam but the spammers get over that by ebedding the wording in graphics which are not picked up. _________________

We had a saying where I once worked: "When you're done learning, you're done!" I applaud you, Barb, for continuing your quest for knowledge. _________________

i second jo's applause, and you're right; embedding their messages in graphics helps spammers evade spam filters. but that's only half the story: if you open an email with a graphic ad that's linked to their server, instead of being embedded in the email itself, you're letting the spammers know that your email address is "live" (i.e., since you opened the email, they know that, not only is this a viable email address, but it's one that somebody actually checks). that's why outlook (and i'm sure a lot of other email clients as well) keeps external images turned off by default. _________________
