Hi all!
It's been some time since my last visit here. My quit date was June 29, 2007. In the time since my quit I have smoked one cigarette (on Sept. 13). I did not berate myself terribly for the flub, but have not smoked any since....And a good thing I have not:
I went to the ER with severe abdominal pain last month. The diagnosis in Crohn's disease. There is a study out there about quitting smoking can be a causation to a Chrohn's flare up or onset.
At this time, not only have I given up smokng, I have alo had to change ny diet. I feel like a new woman through all of the changes I have made this year. I know anything is possible--I'm even up running now!
Please share your stories of your lifestyle changes (or w/ Chohn's or IBD)
Best of luck to all! |

i'd never heard of any connection between quitting and crohn's, sheri, and i don't find any mention of it at the national digestive diseases information clearinghouse (part of the national institutes of health):
http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/crohns/index.htm
my brother bob had crohn's, and my father had ulcerative colitis (i've been lucky in that regard); both were smokers at the onset of those diseases, and both continued to smoke for many years after onset, so, at least in their cases, quitting had nothing to do with onset or flareups. _________________
