Evening Quit Friends,

Need to vent a bit....mom is in the hospital again. Her blood pressure spiked last evening and she not been feeling herself lately. It's been spiking like this for over a week. When this happens her tremors get very bad. She knows something isn't quite right, and the doctors just keep chaulking it up to old age and anxiety. Quite frankly, I'm to the point with the country doctors to blow a gasket, and let the other me, the bitch, loose. Mad Her blood pressure will be low and fine all day, and then suddenly spike uncontrolled in the early evening. She's been having headaches, weakness, dizziness, and I've noticed she's not as sharp as usual. Frankly, she's scared she'll have another stroke, as alot of these same symptoms happened before when she had the one.

What's even more frustrating...dear sister, who lives just down the street from the hospital never even made an attempt to see mom last night or today. Not even going to go there on how I feel on that one! Mad

Mom is scared and feeling at a loss, and as if no one cares. She even made the statement....what's the use, I might as well just get a carton of cigarettes, and just let happen what happens. Quit friends, that stabbed through the very core of me. Sad Told her softly, no mom, remember the cough and all, you don't really want all that again.

Basically, I'm at a loss too. Told mom we need to get aggressive about finding out what is wrong. If the doctors here won't take it seriously then we need to go to next larger town here. Also said to her, the next time this happens, she's going to this other hospital instead of this little county, country one. Why she likes this county one...is beyond me Confused I'm sitting here now waiting on a phone call from the doc...and if that call doesn't come through this evening....I'm letting loose, and hell will know no fury like the one they are about to experience.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Love and Hugs

Hugs and prayers, Deb. So sorry to learn of your Mother's illness. Perhaps it's something as benign as irregular heartbeat which is easily controlled with meds. That's what I had when it was thought I was having a heart attack. Since I'm on the meds, it hasn't happened again.

Whatever is causing her problems, just know that God is with her and, of course, with you. If you feel a different medical staff is required, go for it. Ask your pastor for a recommendation. They usually see enough to know where the best care is given and by whom.

My prayers are with you and your Mom. As for your sister, don't let her get you upset. Right now your Mom needs your care and concern. Put sister out of your mind.

you're perfectly justified to feel the way you do, deb - her doctors don't sound too concerned, and i remember my mom having a doctor like that before she had her first episode with congestive heart failure; the first thing we did after she recovered was fire that guy and get somebody better (unfortunately, that was a bit like closing the barn door after the horse gets out; the damage was already done). don't settle for complacency; these glorified mechanics get paid way too much, and you're the boss. let 'em have it! Thanks Jo! Your prayers mean so much, more than you know...I know you are a prayer warrior!

Sister...I can put her out of my mind. It's seeing the disappointment and hurt in mom that just kills me. I will ask the pastor about a reference. I truly believe something is wrong and it needs attention.

Kevin, thanks!...I do believe you remember the pharmacist post with little buddy...that will be a walk in the park compared to this. I've went head to head with this doctor before, and she knows I mean business. And I am going to find mom another doctor in the town near me....I really have had it with all the pussy footing around the issue. It's like the motto there is just gloss over stuff, pat their hand, put 'em zombieland, and just wait for the final moment. Not my style...I don't like vague answers and won't settle for them. And you are so right....they get a very pretty penny for what they do...and they should give a very good quality of care for it!

Mom had another espisode in the hospital this evening....and still no doctor! What the **** are they thinking? The answer...just lay down and it'll go down. Well, that's great...but a person can't stay laying down the rest of their life....and still no call yet, and it's almost 10pm.....I'm really not a happy camper right now. Yeah,...I've now reached the pissed point, and hell will be cutting loose....it's a guarantted sure thing now.

Till Later Quit Friends...I have some calls to make!

keep your anger focused on the deserving individuals...and just step on old Laughing Demon 's head if you need to be a little taller to look the doctor in the eye...that's all he's good for!

I'll keep you & your mom in my prayers...I can fully understand your perspective! Don't accept less than their very best...and if their best isn't good enough move on...

Thanks, Mary! Amazingly am staying focused on "those" individuals and not letting anger in general seep onto others Wink

Mom is being transfer to the other hospital I wanted her to go to. The doc in ER is making the arrangements...he did understand the need...(thank you Lord!)....never did get through or hear from mom's actual doctor....all day yesterday or last night. Know the office was open...so no excuse!

Anyway, we'll go from here...this other hospital isn't afraid and doesn't hestitate to run tests, etc to find the cause....now that's more like it. Wink

And just fyi....smoking never occurred to me through all this. Yes, life does go on without smoking and yes, you do actually live without thinking about it as an option or reaction...and it is so cool! New quitters...it DOES get so much better even during those stressful and charged times of life!!

Just keep going a day at a time!

Big Hugs and Appreciate the prayers so very much!

You've got to be so relieved to know that your Mom's finally going to get the care she deserves. Prayer works wonders.

While you're caring for your Mom, please remember to care for yourself too. There are lots of people who need you so stay healthy and, of course, free. Smile

Hey, sorry to hear about your Mom...do whatever you have to do...I once backed a candy striper all the way down the hall for leaving my mother on the bed pan for 45 min...then called in the dean of nursing...moved into her room after that and no more trouble...

Deb, the reason I love the lung doctor I have so much is because he fired my mother's internist because he could not hear her heart beating irrugularly...the house doctor heard it and called us all in at 4:00 in the morning...dear ole Dr. Hays was starting his round ( yes he gets up that blame early) and came in to check on her. (he had been called in on consultation the day before).. he took her doctor in the hall and I did not see him again until she was dismissed from the hospital...the one last visit....I was NOT nice... I was less nice when my Dad had to have a triple by pass the next week and he had missed that too!

If you are uncomfortable with her care please do not hesitate to call in a specialist or ask the hospital to get you a second opinion.... Do not worry about making a scene or hurt feelings... you can always apologize later if needed.....by the time my mother went home ( 7 weeks in ICU), every employee who went into the smoker's lounge knew how she had been treated....and knowing me, I told them more than once!!! Laughing Laughing

Sure hope she gets better soon...
Kay
